We are currently seeking a Logistics Associate Trainee to join our GFS Chemicals family. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently picking and packing chemical shipments.
Responsibilities:
- Moving materials between warehouses using forklifts, carts, and by hand.
- Preparing materials for shipment to customers.
- Assisting in the kitting/inventory department as required, by preparing material units in quantities for orders, backorders, and stock.
- Providing assistance in other areas of the company as needed, to fulfill the overall requirements of the production operation.
- Assisting in receiving functions, which may include unloading trucks, verifying products, receiving in the host computer, processing return merchandise authorizations (RMA), and delivering materials.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in logistics is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, barcode devices/WMS.
- Certification in operating forklifts and respirators is desirable.
- The ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items for shipping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The capacity to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Effective communication skills to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Respect for and proficiency in safely handling chemicals.
- Problem-solving and analytical math skills, including metrics and basic algebra.
- Maintaining a positive attitude towards work and colleagues.
- Working well with minimal supervision.
- DOT, IATA, IMDG experience preferred but not required.
- Good organizational, housekeeping and inventory management practices.
