Job Overview

Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Production Assistant/Driver at our Adult Rehabilitation Center. We're seeking a professional and courteous driver to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role is essential in representing The Salvation Army while providing exceptional service to our donors and maintaining efficient operations.

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $24.00

Status: Full Time, 40 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently

• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries

• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials

• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles

• Maintain equipment in excellent working order

• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army

• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully

• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors

• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher

• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively

• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring

• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed

• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard

• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

• Assist with loading and unloading of materials.
• Deliver materials by the time scheduled by your supervisor.
• Ensure that material is properly secured and within weight limits.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations.
• Communicate with your supervisor throughout the day.
• Assist in warehouse operations as necessary.

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience.
• Hold the required county-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.

• Physical capability to manually move materials around the yard or job site, up to 50 pounds.
• Fork-lift certification with at least 1 year of experience.
• Ability to operate smartphone applications.

• Verify all material has been unloaded and placed at the delivery site.
• Verify the customer's signature on the delivery ticket.

• Review delivered orders with the supervisor for completion, accuracy, and format.
• Return all delivery ticket copies to warehouse and verify that none are missing.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations.
• Fuel the truck as necessary.
• Report any vehicle problems, moving violations, accidents, and defects to the supervisor.

• Operate Class utomatic trucks to transport goods to various locations.
• Ensure timely and safe delivery of goods, adhering to delivery schedules.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, maintaining a clean driving record.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and maintenance activities.
• Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is properly secured and protected during transit.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues.
• Report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow company policies and procedures related to safety, security, and operational efficiency.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients during deliveries.
• Assist with warehouse duties such as pulling orders, working in the yard in various weather conditions, and performing housekeeping tasks when not making deliveries.

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Experience driving automatic trucks.

• All drivers must have at least one year of driving the class of vehicles they will be driving while assigned to *** Enterprises, Inc. All drivers must have had a CDL for a minimum of one year.

• Strong customer service skills and ability to work as a team player.

• Experience in logistics or a similar industry.
• Familiarity with local delivery routes and regulations.

• Deliver materials by the time scheduled by your supervisor.
• Validate directions and ensure that material is properly secured and within weight limits.
• Unload or assist in unloading material as required, using a pallet jack or manually.
• Ensure delivery of ticket with material and obtain customer signature.

• Familiarity with local delivery routes in Texas.

• Order picking, staging product and loading Truck in a safe manner
• Operates the Commercial Vehicle in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) as well as all local, state and federal requirements
• Unload and load product
• Upon return to the DC, assist in unloading the truck and putting away equipment
• Collaborate with team leaders before and after trips to assess unload time, delivery issues, continuous improvement initiatives and other aspects of the job
• Keep vehicle clean and report maintenance issues as necessary
• Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements
• Operating within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD)
• Follow all pre- and post-trip equipment inspection
• Routine audit of vehicle registration, permits, insurance, IFTA, and other required docs

• Wearing appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy
• Abide by all yard safety procedures to include but not limited to, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings and PPE requirements
• Report defects, accidents, or violations in accordance with DOT regulations and Company Policy
• Maintain a current driver's license and medical card as required by DOT
• Other duties as may be assigned

• High school or equivalent (e.g., GED)
• 21 years of age
• At least 1 year of verifiable experience of operating a CMV on public roads within the past 3 years
• Must have only one valid Driver's License (free of restrictions or limitations) of the type required and issued by the state of residence. Applicants whose licenses are not issued by their state of residency must have license transfers completed no later than thirty days from hire date.
