**JOB SUMMARY**
This job, as part of a physician team, ensures that utilization management responsibilities are performed in accordance with the highest and most current clinical standards. The incumbent reviews escalated cases electronically and using Medical Policy criteria sets to evaluate the medical necessity and appropriateness of the requested treatment of service. Depending on the nature of the case, telephonic peer to peer discussions may be required. The incumbent ensures compliance to NCQA, URAC, CMS, DOH, and DOL regulations at all times. In addition to utilization review, the incumbent participates as the physician member of the multidisciplinary team for case and disease management. They will advise the multidisciplinary team on cases, particularly high-risk cases, through the team structure. Additionally, the incumbent may be assigned special projects to help support and improve the care of our members
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Conduct electronic review of escalated cases against medical policy criteria, which may include telephonic peer to peer discussions, to determine medical necessity and appropriateness. Complete initial determination of cases, review of appeals and grievances, and other reviews as assigned. Compose clear and concise rationales for member and provider determination notifications all while adhering to required compliance standards (NCQA, URAC, CMS, DOH, and DOL regulations, etc.). Ensure that all aspects of the medical management process are consistent with community standards of care.
+ Participate as a member of the CMDM multidisciplinary team. Attend huddles and grand rounds. Advise multidisciplinary team on cases that require physician expertise.
+ Participate in protocol and guidelines development to ensure consistency in the review process.
+ Actively manage projects and/or participate on project teams that require a physician subject matter expert.
+ Other duties as assigned.

The Representative II, Customer Service Operations processes orders for distribution centers and other internal customers in accordance to scheduling, demand planning and inventory. The Representative II administers orders in internal systems and responds to customer questions, clearly communicating delays, issues and resolutions. This job also processes non-routine orders, such as product samples, and ensures that special requirements are included in an order.
This position specializes in new patient care on the customer service team.
**_Responsibilities_**
+ Processes routine customer orders according to established demand plans, schedules and lead times using SAP and other internal systems. Enters all necessary order information, reviews order contents, and ensures that orders are closed once completed.
+ Responds to inquiries from internal customers, such as Distribution Centers, regarding order tracking information as well as on-hold, back order and high priority statuses.
+ Identifies and communicates resolutions to order delays, missing information, and product availability based on customer profiles.
+ Uses dashboards and reporting from internal systems to identify causes of order issues, such as lack of inventory or invalid measures or requirements in the order. Creates visuals and conducts analyses as necessary to understand and communicate order data and issues.
+ Coordinates with a variety of internal stakeholders, including Planners and externally facing Customer Service Representatives, regarding customer issues.
+ For international shipping and in cases of special-order requirements, coordinates with Quality and Global Trade teams in order to ensure compliance of orders.
+ Processes orders for product samples and trials, coordinating with Marketing teams as necessary to understand the purpose and requirements of the samples.

The Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute (LHGLI) Liaison Nurse generates & facilitates patient admissions from hospital-based referral sources, promotes growth of admissions, performs, or coordinates clinical assessments of possible patients, and is responsible for meeting LHGLI goals for successful relationships with area hospitals.

The Liaison Nurse establishes and nurtures external professional relationships, maintains awareness of local medical markets, provides clinical or psychosocial assessments of prospective patients when necessary, and represents LHGLI its spectrum of services in a competent, professional manner consistent with the organization's goals.

Education

Registered Nurse, Associate degree or Nursing Diploma

Experience

Account Management Responsibilities

* Actively develops and fosters area hospital referral source acceptance and allegiance to GHC.
* Effectively implements strategies and tactics to increase admissions from referral sources.
* Maintains awareness of changing medical environment and industry competition.
* Represents GHC with professionalism at all times & responds in a timely manner to referral source questions or requests for presentations.
* Maintains current knowledge of each facility's discharge planning process and builds relationships with key institutional referral sources.
* Professionally and compassionately interacts with patients, families and hospital referral sources to explain end-of-life care services.
* Delivers effective "in-services," "lunch & learns" and other presentations to relevant parties educating the medical community on GHC, end-of-life care, hospice philosophy and other related topics.
* Maintains current knowledge of Hospice Medicare Benefit and other applicable insurance information and communicates related information when needed.
* Tracks success of liaison efforts, partners with other Admission & Business Development team members to discuss current procedures, and suggests improvements and new ideas for Admission and Business Development team and specific roles.
* Prepares for and attends required meetings and contributes valuable feedback and relevant suggestions.
* Ensures all HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation and all other Joint Commission and other regulatory/compliance requirements are understood and followed.
* Assists with "Share Days" for prospective employees and in orienting new nursing personnel to policies, procedures and practices of GHC and the Hospice Liaison Nurse role.

Our team of CRNAs at Weill Cornell provide patient-centered anesthesia for all types of surgical procedures, including cardiac, vascular, neurosurgery, pediatrics and obstetrics. Nurse Anesthetists administer general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical, obstetric and diagnostic procedures.

In addition to providing excellent care, our CRNA’s also provide one-on-one anesthesia instruction for Columbia University and Fairfield University’s Nurse Anesthesia Program. In April of 2018, we opened the state-of-the-art David H. Koch Ambulatory Surgery Center that has become the focal point of ambulatory surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In 2020, we expanded the DHK Ambulatory Center to house the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Women’s Hospital. Our CRNA’s have a continued commitment to providing patients with the most integrated and innovative patient care and use their expertise and top technology to consistently achieve surgical success rates and the nation’s lowest mortality rate.
