Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to focus on the design of food machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with food manufacturing standards. This role involves stainless steel construction, power transmission, piping, ducting, and overall sanitary design. The engineer will utilize their expertise in combustion, gas train, and thermal design to create customized large-scale food manufacturing equipment tailored to customer specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Solve design, manufacture, function, and reliability issues of equipment by gathering data from various sources such as the field, manufacturing floor, and quality control.
+ Apply structured problem-solving techniques to find solutions related to component issues.
+ Collaborate with other Engineers and Project Managers to ensure equipment compatibility and functionality.
+ Test and conduct quality checks on designed equipment once built.
+ Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of fryers and perform application testing for new customer products.
+ Provide support to the manufacturing organization and offer technical assistance to customers with help from the Service department.
+ Travel to customer sites to assist with equipment startup and provide support.
+ Assist other departments as required and perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in machine design, mechanical engineering, and GD&T.
+ Experience with SolidWorks and Solid model CAD design, such as Inventor.
+ Familiarity with Creo and bill of materials.
+ Knowledge in project management and MS Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
+ At least three years of related experience in mechanical design.
+ Previous design experience of continuous fryers is a plus.
+ Ability to travel up to 10% within the United States.
Work Environment
This position is primarily on-site within an office setting, with occasional visits to customer sites to review project success and specifications. Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Projects are often complex and multi-discipline. For the majority of assignments, junior-mid Engineers will be issued specific objectives, approaches, and possible solutions by a supervising engineer. The junior-mid Engineer:
+ Independently but with guidance from a more senior engineer, performs project assignments that involve few complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline.
+ Analyzes and/or evaluates the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors.
+ Accomplishes, complete tasks of well-defined scope or solves problems which require investigation of a limited and well-defined number of variables.
+ Prepares technical reports, presentations, and calculations.
+ Coordinates with designer/drafters.
+ May formally review the work of others for techniques and technical approach, if in area of specific technical expertise.
+ Supports interface development with other disciplines, working closely with structural, mechanical process, controls and instrumentation, and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.
+ Participates in the production of complete design packages, including detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications, as required.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. Description

- As a member of the SoC design machine learning team, you will be part of a dynamic team that is building the most efficient application processors on the planet, powering the next generation of Apple products.- Your expertise in machine learning will be instrumental in optimizing for efficiency, quality and speed for our chip-design process.- Youll play a crucial role in developing generative AI and machine learning solutions for optimizations in RTL Design, Verification, and Power/Performance/Area efforts.- You will collaborate closely with our internal multi-functional teams as well as the AIML organization at Apple to understand domain-specific needs and tailor machine learning solutions to these domains.- As part of this role, you will keep abreast of emerging technologies in machine learning and chip design to ensure our solutions remain state-of-the-art.- Prior leadership experience a plus

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of BS + 10 years relevant industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical experience and knowledge of generative AI and modern machine learning methods, particularly deep neural networks and reinforcement learning
  • Solid math background and understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Experience with current deep learning frameworks, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX or MLX
  • Experience with hardware description languages like Verilog, SystemVerilog or VHDL
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work efficiently in cross-functional teams
  • Master's or PhD with relevant publications preferred but not required.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About the Role

MWH is currently seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Engineering Design Manager to lead, manage, and coordinate the design efforts of complex water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater treatment facilities, and a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing quality, guiding permitting and regulatory compliance, and serving as a technical leader throughout design and preconstruction.

This position plays a key role in driving successful project delivery by integrating design development with constructability, budget adherence, schedule performance, and stakeholder collaboration. The Engineering Design Manager will serve as the primary design liaison between the owner, regulatory agencies, internal design teams, and third-party consultants.

Essential Functions

  1. Lead and manage engineering design efforts for complex, multi-discipline projects, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, quality, and contractual commitments.
  2. Direct all phases of design (conceptual, preliminary, final), driving coordination across various disciplines.
  3. Serve as the primary point of contact for all design-related issues, both internally and externally, with final technical accountability for overall project design and delivery.
  4. Supervise and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including project managers and senior engineers, while managing multiple concurrent projects as needed.
  5. Plan, schedule, and monitor the design process; lead internal and external design coordination meetings, P&ID reviews, and 3D model reviews.
  6. Ensure design compliance with the projects basis of design and company quality standards through regular interdisciplinary reviews and design verification activities.
  7. Support project managers in proposal development, resource planning, scheduling, benchmarking, cost estimating, and design change management.
  8. Oversee implementation and updates, ensuring adherence to company procedures and change management protocols.
  9. Evaluate staffing needs, assign resources effectively, and maintain accurate forecasting.
  10. Coordinate with subconsultants and external stakeholders; negotiate critical design issues and contract terms with clients and partner organizations.
  11. Engage in professional development activities such as publishing technical papers, serving on committees, and participating in industry organizations.
  12. Identify and support recruitment of new staff, participating in interviews and candidate selection.
  13. Provide construction-phase support, including site visits and constructability input during design.
  14. Foster strong client relationships, support business development efforts, and contribute to securing repeat and new project opportunities.
  15. Ensure availability of VDC tools, oversee record documentation, and support delivery of closeout materials (O&M manuals, as-builts, etc.).
  16. Travel as required for client meetings, site visits, and coordination efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent experience and training/education.
  2. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  3. 10+ years of progressive design experience, including 5 years in design leadership or management role on large, multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.
  4. 5+ years of experience on water or wastewater treatment plant projects.
  5. Proficiency in design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM/VDC platforms).
  6. Knowledge of relevant codes, permitting, and jurisdictional requirements.
  7. Track record of successful client relationship management and business development.
  8. Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
  9. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  10. Willingness to travel as required for project or client needs.
