**Position Overview:**

**Responsibilities:**
+ Assembling and packaging many different types of product on a conveyer line.
+ Work with hand tools and power tools.
+ Pull orders by identifying part numbers that are numeric & alpha-numeric.
+ On occasion load incoming or outgoing product
**The ideal candidate will possess:**
+ Need to be able to read, process, and scan tickets to match product to necessary packaging.
+ Need to be able to use computers, and some hand tools.
+ Will be standing the entire shift.
+ Expected to be flexible and rotate to different positions throughout the line.
+ Detail Oriented
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Physically fit, standing, bending, lifting parts weighing 25-35 lbs
+ Bend, reach, lift, & climb ladders/steps
+ Be able to stand for up to 8 hours at a time

Hood Container Corporation is seeking Machine Operators to join our 1st & 3rd shift team at our Walker, MI facility. If you have corrugated industry experience, are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced production environment, we’d love to have you on our team!
What You’ll Do
Operate the machine safely and efficiently to meet daily production goals.
Set up, adjust, and monitor the color printing, gluing, folding, and slotting process according to job specifications.
Clean and maintain ink systems, rollers, anilox rolls, and print plates to ensure smooth operation.
Diagnose and resolve common print issues such as streaks, misregistration, or uneven coverage.
Perform quality checks on finished boxes to ensure accuracy, registration, and conformance with customer requirements.
Troubleshoot and correct minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
Communicate equipment performance issues to maintenance or supervision as needed.
Complete production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
Assist in changeovers and clean-up to maintain machine efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of machine operator experience in a corrugated manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience operating Flexo Folder Gluers or other converting equipment is a strong plus.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read work orders, use measuring tools, and verify product quality.
Knowledge of Pantone color matching and adjusting ink viscosity to maintain print consistency.
Familiarity with the flexographic printing process and anilox roll handling/cleaning.
Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking.
Physical & Work Requirements:

Job Summary:
The Operator runs machines efficiently, making quality products to specification, while keeping their work area clean and orderly. Machine Operators also have the responsibility in issuing and issuing back materials to maintain accurate inventory levels and costing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Materials Issued for production : The Production Operator will have responsibilities as defined by the Department Supervisor for issuing production materials to and from production jobs. They will be expected to follow the process defined for issuing and issuing back materials, as well as participate in training and/or process improvement within this process step.
- Production, Testing, and Packaging : The Production Operator is to run production equipment as
defined by the Department Supervisor. Production Operators are expected to run equipment to a
minimum efficiency level as dictated by the job's routers, but typically min of 80%. Higher efficiencies are often expected depending on familiarity with a job and experience within Selig. The production operator is also responsible for understanding all department specific standard operating procedures as well as job specific operating procedures prior to running any production job within manufacturing. It is expected that the production operator, using these specifications along with input from the supervisors and technicians, produce quality product meeting production and packaging specification outlined. - Process Improvement Ideas : It is expected that Selig's Production Operators are engaged in their job and continually bring new ideas and suggestions for improvement to their Department Supervisors. Ideas for improvement could be anything from product and process, to organizational and cleanliness. Efforts to improve in these areas will help Selig Grand Rapids grow, to better serve our customers and benefit our employees.
- Individual Work Cells : The production operator is responsible to maintain a clean and organized working environment. This pertains to any area within the department, but especially the individual work cells. It is imperative that the floor remains free of debris and is continually cleaned during the production shift.
