Starting Wage Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, BOE
Shift: Day Shift - Monday-Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
Job Summary
JST Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a Cutting, Forming & Finishing Lead Operator to join our Day Shift team. In this role, you'll utilize engineering blueprints and work orders to produce precision parts using cutting, forming, and finishing equipment. You'll also oversee daily production activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time completion, while mentoring and supporting your team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate metal shear and saw.
Develop cut lists that minimize scrap and maximize efficiency.
Set up and operate captive fastener (PEM) machine.
Use deburring tools and equipment to meet quality standards.
Identify required materials from work orders.
Accurately interpret engineering drawings to meet tolerances, fit, and finish.
Competently use measuring instruments and follow quality procedures.
Track labor and materials using shop floor control software.
Maintain shop safety, cleanliness, and equipment stewardship.
Collaborate with team members and engineering to improve manufacturability and resolve constraints.
Perform additional tasks to support manufacturing, engineering, quality, and quoting departments.
Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform work requiring standing, climbing, and use of hand/power tools throughout the shift.
Job Requirements, Skills & Experiences
Experience operating cutting, forming, and finishing machinery.
Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
Skilled in the use of deburring tools and equipment.
Experience cutting stainless steels and plastics.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for full shifts.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Additional Lead Responsibilities
Oversee daily production activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely completion.
Supervise and support production team members with training, guidance, and feedback.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and adjust schedules to meet goals.
Ensure products meet company standards; troubleshoot and implement corrective actions.
Monitor supply levels, coordinate replenishment, and minimize waste.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Enforce safety protocols and company policies.
Collaborate across departments to align production with business objectives.
Maintain accurate records of metrics, incidents, and performance data.
Work Environment & Employee Expectations
This position requires the ability to:
Safely lift and carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs.
Walk, stand, and work on feet for the duration of the shift.
Perform physical activities such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and operating tools/equipment.
