Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate counts and follow all SOPs

Support and train team members when needed
Requirements

How Will You Impact WestRock company:
* Use the Work Order as a guide to individual job requirements and specifications.
* Set-up line or assist with line set-up as needed, using the line diagram.

* Responsible for safety on the line and for adhering to all safety rules and programs, and for attending all required safety training.
* Communicate with other departments, such as warehouse, maintenance and quality assurance as appropriate and necessary, and keep Supervisor apprised of issues related to the line.
* Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
* Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.

**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Chicago location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for programming, setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic components made from castings, forgings, and stamped steel materials. This is a Monday through Thursday day shift role with overtime sometimes required on a Friday and/or Saturday. The CNC Machinist is expected to be able to program, read blueprints/CAD drawings, adjust offsets and change inserts, change out jobs with appropriate tooling, set-up and qualify first article parts. Supports the production requirements for all work cells. Prioritizes daily work based on Safety, Quality and Productivity requirements.

+ Always has safety first in mind when working at Cardwell, uses all personal protective equipment as required. Ensures all equipment and forklifts are functioning per design and function. Shutdown equipment and stops operations in unsafe conditions, lockout/tagout when necessary.
+ Completes Red Flag Condition cards for urgent remedies to safety concerns and completes work orders to ensure timely repairs to equipment.
+ Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
+ Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
+ Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
+ Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
+ Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine or machine's program as required.
+ Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications and drawings.
+ Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data.

**Role Summary:**
A Machine Operator will maintain and operate a variety of machines and equipment, including hand tools, to carry out routine tasks. This position is also responsible for installation, visual inspection, and set up of machines and equipment within expected quality and safety guidelines. The machines and equipment may be manual, or computerized.
**Responsibilities Include:**
+ - Operate and maintain machines and equipment

+ - Move materials and parts to and from work areas via power lift trucks and forklifts.
+ - Ensure a smooth flow of production.
+ - Involved in solving production and technological problems.

You'll be an integral part of our cleanroom environment, ensuring the precise assembly of electronic components such as power window switches, push-to-start buttons, and car entertainment consoles.
**Responsibilities**
+ Follow specific verbal and/or written instructions and standard work processes.
+ Adjust and set up equipment for defined variables like length, temperature, or process speed.
+ Load raw materials into machines, perform minor changeovers, and monitor machine operations.
