Our customer in Rockford, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting Machine Operators to work full-time on 2nd shift. As a Machine Operator I, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various Roll Thread and Grinding equipment. This role focuses on developing proficiency with assigned machines, ensuring production quality, and supporting cross-functional needs within the facility.
Responsibilities of the Machine Operator I:
- Perform machine setup for Grind and Roll equipment using setup sheets and loading appropriate dies and tooling
- Operate and maintain machinery, loading raw materials using lifts and overhead cranes as needed
- Work within a production cell to grind bar stock in preparation for roll threading, ensuring dimensional tolerances are maintained
- Inspect products throughout production using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
- Document production activities, including machine performance, part quality, and material usage in ERP systems
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and minimize machine downtime
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S methodology
- Assist in moving raw materials and finished goods with overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure final products meet internal and customer specifications
- Flex across departments to support changing production needs and maintain workflow efficiency
Machine Operator I Requirements and Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience operating large-scale roll threading or grinding machinery
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or significant relevant work experience
- Capable of lifting 70+ lbs and working in a physically demanding environment
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Skilled with hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, impacts, etc.)
- Computer literacy and the ability to document production activity
- Steel-toe boots or shoes required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed instructions
