**Scope of Position**
Responsible for development, assembly, and validation of machine vision systems in support of the development and manufacturing of Corning products. Lead the transfer of technology from the lab to the manufacturing line.
**Day-to-Day Responsibilities**
+ Use off-the-shelf instruments or develop new inspection methods to optimize manufacturing processes or inspect the quality of Corning products.
+ Utilize novel computer vision and machine learning methods to perform object detection/classification tasks, such as segmentation and detection for production defects.
+ Develop measurement solutions that are suitable for use in manufacturing and leverage external suppliers for key technologies or strengths such as system integration.
+ Work with a variety of multi-functional groups (Development, Quality, IT, Purchasing, Operations) to deliver effective solutions.
+ Design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement improvements to measurement systems or production processes.
+ Create/update documentation for release to production including machine specifications and operating procedures.
+ Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel to use and maintain measurement systems.
+ Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting of production measurement systems.
**Experiences/Education - Required**
+ BS, MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, ME, ECE or EE plus minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with machine vision metrology equipment.
+ Knowledge of Machine Vision systems (optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, image analysis)
+ Machine vision system development (optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, image analysis)
+ Experience with image processing development packages such as Halcon, OpenCV, Matrox Inspector, NI Vision, or Matlab image processing toolbox
+ Fundamental knowledge of physical optics (principles of optics, ray tracing)
+ Knowledge of image processing algorithms (blob analysis, edge finding, morphology, feature extraction, classification, metrology)
+ Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers to understand metrology requirements and deliver results that are effectively interpreted and applied.

The range for this position is $95,386.00 - $131,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The Global Commodity Management team for Electronic Components is seeking an experienced Sr. Global Commodity Manager for Compute & Machine Vision. (CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, SoC, SoM) with a background in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, supplier development, negotiating, contract development, and executing sourcing decisions to support new product introduction and long-term commodity strategy. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-managed and a driven sourcing strategist, with experience in semiconductor industry, mapping and aligning design and technology roadmaps, experience in creating sourcing strategies, and business acumen to support engineering teams to develop latest technologies through strong vendor base, without capacity constrain, while achieving cost reduction goals.
The Sr. Global Commodity Manager has an important role in ensuring their respective commodity and suppliers meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to satisfy its internal Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, and Hardware Engineering customers.
Key job responsibilities
This candidate will work collaboratively with multiple business functions in a team environment and will be responsible for the following:
- Managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.
- Collaborating with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements to ensure that sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost, and business objectives.
- Developing efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.
- Supporting the purchasing and planning teams by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply and/or quality issues.

About the team
The Global Commodity Management Electronic Components team inside Robotic Supply Chain is responsible for all components that makeup a PCBA which goes into our fleet of robots. This includes all semiconductors, passives, PCBs, modules, etc.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high-volume, global manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of direct experience working with a global supply base of the relevant commodity.
- Ability to review and understand engineering requirements and design documents for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts.
- Experience developing, leading, and executing global supplier cost, risk, and lead time reduction strategies.
- Demonstrated use of technical, analytical, and management skills to lead RFQs, supplier selection, supplier capacity planning, and supplier risk identification/mitigation in NPI programs.
