Job Summary :

As a Machine Vision Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of custom machine vision systems within industrial automation projects. You will be responsible for ensuring these systems meet all technical specifications, adhere to industry standards, and satisfy customer requirements. Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Take ownership of the design and development of machine vision systems for custom industrial automation projects.
  • Conceptualize, design, and confirm technical specifications and bills of material for machine vision systems.
  • Provide oversight for equipment assessment, ordering, and verification, ensuring that final hardware and software meet customer needs.
  • Ensure that designs align with Catalyx and industry standards and meet all specified requirements.
  • Oversee and support the development, testing, and installation phases, ensuring systems are production-ready and meet design specifications.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for machine vision system design, providing guidance in risk evaluation and technical matters.
  • Act as the escalation point for machine vision-related issues during the build, installation, and warranty phases.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on procurement, training, and upskilling, and assist in sales technical meetings as needed.
  • Meet with vendors to confirm component selection and stay informed on new technologies in machine vision and control systems.
  • Analyze existing procedures, suggest improvements, and support the creation of design and technical documentation.
Requirements
Required Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution (vision component preferred).
  • AIA CVP-Basic Certification (AIA CVP-Advanced Certification preferred).
  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours or varying work patterns depending on project needs.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license that is in good standing.
Required Skills
  • Experience with front-end GUI development using Cognex Designer and data management, preferably in SQL.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing machine vision systems within industrial automation (robot guidance experience is a plus)
  • Experience with existing Machine Vision Platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, Halcon or OpenCV (Cognex platform preferred)
  • Experience implementing projects in a regulated/validated environment (GAMP5 approach experience is preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming languages and machine vision technologies (C#, C++ or Python preferred)
  • Experience with training AI neural networks (Cognex ViDi Deep Learning preferred)
  • Advanced understanding and knowledge of computer vision solutions and principles including image acquisition, optics, lighting, algorithm development, object detection, segmentation, and recognition, 3D imaging, and metrology inspections
  • Expert problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure situations demonstrating a flexible work style.

Job Duties
  • Learn current inspection system and implement improvement for defect inspection overkill and escape
  • Development of visual inspection recipes for new products through massive AI training
  • Continuously collect escaped and overkilled photos for AI re-training for existing recipe to reduce mis-detection rate
  • Apply image processing such as image enhancement, thresholding, morphology, feature extraction, classification etc. to improve defect detection accuracy
  • Review OQC rejected work orders
  • Troubleshooting for work orders with inspection issues
  • Ensure production line meet uptime, cycle time and quality metrics, have the sense of urgency on resolution of production issues
  • Inspection yield report analysis on a weekly basis
  • Current inspection of hardware tool routine maintenance and new tool qualification
  • Document process changes/updates in format of Standard Operating Procedure
  • Technical training for operators and technicians
  • Regularly and effectively communicate status of activities/project updates with colleagues

Qualifications

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Data Collection and Management:
    • Gather and manage data from multiple sources, including machine vision systems, operational databases, and external maritime data feeds.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous cleaning and preprocessing techniques.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for safety improvements within maritime operations.
    • Create detailed reports and dashboards that visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and insights for stakeholders, including operational teams and management.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Support the development and implementation of data analytics tools and systems.
    • Work closely with engineering and product development teams to understand data requirements and provide analytical support for AI model improvements.
    • Collaborate with maritime safety experts to translate technical data into actionable safety recommendations.
  • Continuous Improvement :
    • Identify and implement process improvements for data collection, analysis, and reporting workflows.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and machine vision applications.
