Summary Lead the mechanical subsystem design and integration for modular data center platforms, with a focus on thermal systems, structural assemblies, and manufacturability. This role connects product engineering with scalable, high-quality manufacturing, ensuring that cooling systems meet performance, cost, regulatory, and reliability requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead the mechanical design, validation, and manufacturing integration of thermal/cooling subsystems (e.g., heat exchangers, HVAC systems, chillers, pumps, enclosures). Ensure compliance with thermal performance, pressure, durability, and environmental standards across development stages. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality to ensure integrated system performance. Own the mechanical subsystem throughout the product lifecycle and act as key contributor in the Technical Core Team. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred). Minimum 7 years of experience in applied mechanical engineering with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or manufacturing-focused engineering role. Technical Skills Deep knowledge of thermal and fluid systems: heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks is required. Experience with FEA (ANSYS) and thermal simulation tools (FloTHERM or similar) is strongly preferred. Expertise in material selection, structural analysis, and mechanical tolerancing. Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, brazing, injection molding, and assembly operations. Demonstrated application of DFM/DFA principles and mechanical risk assessment frameworks. Extensive experience managing and structuring multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) across engineering and manufacturing phases. Experience working with ERP and PLM systems for part tracking, configuration control, and lifecycle management. Familiarity with mechanical engineering standards (ASHRAE, ISO 9001, ASME). RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Have a thorough knowledge of department and related components including location of switches, valves, and controls throughout department.

  • Understand that the hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and while general as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.
  • The maintenance department works four days on and three days off. The workday consists of a twelve-hour shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment is hot, humid, and odorous, with temperatures above 100F on the harvest side. The environment is cold and wet, with temperatures ranging from 28-48F on the cut/conversion. There is frequent exposure to hog blood. The noise level is loud.

Job Description:

Contributor in the design and development of automated plasma cutting systems. Priority focus on development of plasma consumables and next generation of automated plasma torch and cutting processes. Key contributor to complete plasma cutting system design including the integration of system electronics, plasma cutting process control, plasma torch and consumable design, and plasma cutting CNC machine control. Interface with and trouble shoot complex Electro-mechanical systems.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Technical contributor for design and development of complex automated Plasma cutting systems
  • These systems include plasma torches, plasma consumables, plasma cutting gas control, cutting machine integration, inverter power supply integration, and plasma cutting process development.
  • Development of product documentation including technical specifications, concepts to meet those specifications, detailed designs of each system, generation of cost estimate models, and input for development schedules.
  • Leading the development of test processes, analysis of results, and appraisal of integrity of mechanical product designs.
  • Presentation of test and/or analysis results and design ideas both orally and written
  • Assisting in construction of prototypes.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams on new product designs
  • Provide end-users with support through product applications and demonstrations
  • Provide field service engineers with support on product applications, demonstrations, product opportunities and processes
  • Assist end users with process applications analysis
  • Assists in the development of technical training programs and materials
  • Provide customers with support on product applications
  • Respond to technical inquiries from internal company personnel
  • Project a positive, professional image as a Company representative
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial equipment design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Associate's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Technology.
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of plasma cutting processes.
  • Proficiency in design for manufacturing principles and product data management.
  • Solid computer literacy and familiarity with engineering software tools.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD modeling and industrial product development.
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of plasma physics and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Familiarity with statistical design of experiments (DOE).
  • Understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical stress and heat transfer.
  • Background in scientific experimentation and mechanical integrity testing.

The successful candidate will have general knowledge of electrical and mechanical assemblies and possess basic knowledge of electronic circuits and automation assemblies Other duties include, but not limited to:

  • Assemble, install, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems, such as robotic systems and material processing machines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years’ working experience with electro-mechanical equipment

  • BS or Associates Degree in a technical field desired

  • Specialized technical training a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of the components

  • Ability to verify dimensions of parts using measuring instruments to ensure that specifications are met

  • Basic proficiency metalworking machines and welding equipment

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems 

  • Manual dexterity to assemble a wide variety of electro-mechanic equipment using basic hand tools and specialized equipment

  • Ability to develop and follow assembly or test procedures

  • Effective writing skills to document procedures and test results
