Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the daily operation of the process equipment that converts raw potatoes into dehydrated flakes and/or fresh cut various cuts and sizes to insure an excellent grade of food product that meets customer's specifications in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively learn and safely operate all machinery, computers, and processes required to successfully produce good product.
- Fresh Cut - demonstrate the ability to operate the peeler, cutter (Urschel), sliver remover, optical sorter, cooling tunnel, conveyors and packaging equipment.
- Dehy - demonstrate the ability to understand the dehy process by controlling the peeler, brush machine, slicer, blancher, cooler, cooker, ricer, drums, Kadent blades, augers and packaging equipment.
- Must adhere to company rules and follow GMP signs and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Be capable of mixing additives for the drums, and controlling flow of additives to finish product.
- Able to work and learn in a team environment and communicate well with fellow employees
- Maintain open communication between Production Manager, Lead Operator, Lab, and fellow employees
- Communicate with Manager, Lead Operator and Lab, such as too much or too little mash, cooking problems with potatoes; too sticky, to dry, excessive skipping of blades, etc. (Dehy)
- Must be able to communicate with Lab (Quality) to prevent out of grade situations and correct the problem if this occurs.
- Communicate with Manager, Lead Operator and Lab, raw product potato quality, processing issues, machine breakdowns, etc.
- Capable of shoveling mash to assure even distribution of mash on applicator rolls.
- Work assignments in other production areas may be required at times. This may include, but not limited to; shipping and receiving, packaging, sanitation, and maintenance.
- Flexibility-able and willing to perform tasks at all levels (from sweeping floors to operation the production process)
- Assist in any maintenance problems, or production problems which may occur during process line operations.
- Required to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the entire plant.
- Responsible to clean and sterilize all augers on the process line at the end of each production run.
- Assist in all aspects of clean up at the end of each production run.
- Always strive to produce an excellent grade of food product in a safe environment.
- May require working on a Saturday and/or Sunday to accommodate customer needs.

Summary/Objective
As a meat packaging machine operator, you will work in a fast-paced production area, where products are passed from meat cages & bins to various packaging machinery. Duties include checking and controlling the machinery that packages the product to ensure that production has a constant supply of materials, adjusting the speed of the machinery, Machinery setup & tear down & troubleshooting, checking instruments at regular intervals, and maintaining machine cleanliness. When problems arise during the production process, stop the machine and report the issue to a supervisor.
Essential Functions
Responsible for supervising all operational & safety related functions pertaining to company equipment & machinery such as VC999, Shrink Tunnel, Peeler, Rollstock, Treif Slicers, Spiral Slicers, Band Saw, Cubing Machine, Box Tapers, Metal Detectors, Pallet Jacks, High Lifts, & other production related machinery.
Must be capable of lifting 30-50 lbs. frequently, in addition to pushing/pulling fully loaded meat cages & product bins.
Document all production-related activities on the Product Traceability Computer System.
Ability to be adequately trained & authorized to use machinery cleaning chemicals, including mandatory PPE.
Maintain a work environment that is neat, clean, and hazard-free.
Must have consistent and reliable attendance.
Must be able to follow instructions and procedures.
Comply with all health/safety, food safety, and basic hygiene rules.

Machine Operator - Casting Technician
Basic Scope/Purpose:
The Casting Technician is responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring essential machines in the department to produce Urethane Cast Slab Stock.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Loads drums of materials in ovens and on rotators, prepares reinforcement fabric, colors, and other components for production use
• Operates mixing pots to produce a variety of different type mixes according to run specifications
• Sets up urethane application system and sets press operational conditions according to run specifications
• Operates casting machine while making various adjustments to meet quality and production criteria; uses micrometers and/or other gauges to establish and maintain quality requirements during the entire product run; cuts test samples for QA as required; sews on reinforcement rolls and maintains Teflon release belts as needed; operates and maintains flash trimming and automatic take-up reel equipment during the production run
• Unloads completed cast rolls and post cures same according to run specifications; moves finished goods to storage area; transports incoming raw materials from shipping dock and maintains Casting raw materials storage area
• Cleans machine, posts, and pumps of excess urethane at the end of the production run or as otherwise required
• Records processing information on Work Orders as required; disposes of processing scrap and records scrap information as required
• Keeps up to date on all ISO Work Instructions and signs off on same in a timely manner
• Makes accurate and timely entries on the JD Edwards shop floor control system
• Reports quality and processing problems to supervisor
• Follows written procedures and maintains a clean work area by completing the daily cleanup checklist
• Supports Continuous Improvement and the Lean Initiative
• Supports the department by performing other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required.
• Works in other departments as required.

• Wear the required PPE at all times

• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
Education and/or Relative Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a level III Operator.
