Penn Machine Company has an excellent opportunity available in a growth industry with a proven 100+ year old company for a Machinist. Penn Machine Company LLC, a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway Company, is a leading manufacturer of products and services for the transit, railroad, oil/gas, and mining industries. We are seeking a qualified individual for a full-time position for our Transit Division in Blairsville, PA.
Our Machinists operate equipment necessary to produce quality components to specifications on prints while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Primary responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain operation of CNC lathes, mills, and/or gear grinders as well as hand and power tools as required to perform job assignments.
- Replace worn inserts, drills or tooling and adjust feed/speed rates.
- Complete work assignments and associated reports in a timely manner.
- Verify machine components with measuring instruments to ensure parts are made within tolerances.
- Operate powered industrial forklift and crane hoist to transfer and position materials as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean and well organized work area.
Requirements for Positions:
- Machining background - knowledge of and/or machining background. Programming experience and training is preferred. Experience programming in MasterCam and/or Gear Pro is a plus.
- Strong background to read, understand, and interpret prints, with using measuring equipment, in completing reports and documentation, and ability to read and understand written directions and procedures.
- Machine shop environment background preferred.
- Self-motivated and willing to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts, when required.

Ultimate LLC is immediately hiring Machinists for industrial projects in the Topeka, KS area. The pay range is up to $30 per hour based on experience. All Machinists are scheduled 40+ hours a week. We are looking for skilled craftsmen to add to our team of dedicated, safe, productive, and proven craftsmen. Ultimate LLC provides weekly pay for all employees with no week in the hole and optional direct deposit.
Primary Accountability: The Machinist will read and interpret work orders and blueprints to complete machined projects in a safe, quality, and efficient manner. This position requires someone detail-oriented with strong machining skills and the ability to complete routine to intricate projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret work orders and blueprints to determine work requirements.
- Utilize CNC and manual mills and lathes in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with IMI standards, to produce custom parts.
- Expect several changeovers with the use of multiple machines within a given day, as machined parts are generally single piece parts or very low quantity.
- Program CNC instructions for the vertical mill and lathe.
- Run other production machines, such as saws, laser, and brake, when machining work is not needed.
- Aid the estimation department in machine capabilities and estimating run time and setup time of work.
- Prepare and set up equipment and supplies required to perform work assignments.
- Self-inspect quality of work to ensure it meets IMI and customer expectations.
- Attend company training programs and follow procedures as outlined in training.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees and department managers.
Ultimate Machinist Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3-4 years of machining experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret part drawings.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement.
- Ability to complete work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
- Appropriate PPE (Hard hat, vest, steel toe boots).
- Must have basic hand tools to perform trade.
- Ability to perform regular standing, bending, and kneeling, and lifting of up to 50 lbs without assistance.

As a Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Setting-up and operating special purpose equipment, Winders, conventional (lathe and/or mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers for fabrication of metallic and non-metallic parts that hold to the high quality machine standards required within the organization.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
