Base pay starts at $16.00 - $17.00 per hour, plus 0.30 per hour shift differential
Shift: Second Shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Duties include working with metal fabrication equipment material handling
- Ability to comprehend and execute work assignments with minimal follow up
- Customer service and quality driven
- High level of mechanical aptitude
- Ability to be cross trained in other functions
- Ability to use diverse hand tools and equipment to perform duties
- Basic math, reasoning, problem solving and computer skills
- Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2 years production and/or shipping experience, preferably in the metals/materials industry
- Execute assignments as given by the Supervisor or Group Leader
- Immediately inform supervision of all equipment, process, material, safety, and quality concerns
- Follow all work instructions, policies, work rules, safety guidelines, and work procedures
- Training other team members as assigned
- Participate in daily housekeeping of assigned areas and other cleanup efforts as assigned
- Participate in problem solving, continuous improvement, and customer complaint resolution efforts
- Read and understand product blueprints and technical data sheets as required
- Perform basic preventative equipment maintenance as assigned
- Accept reassignment to other departments as workload dictate
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

Position Description
Copperweld is hiring multiple Machine Operators across different operational levels . Some training may be required on 1st shift before transitioning to off-shift roles.
Machine Operators are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery used in the manufacturing of bimetallic wire products. This position requires working in a safety-critical, heavy industrial environment , following all protocols to ensure the wellbeing of employees and equipment. Operators must meet quality and productivity standards through the efficient, precise, and safe use of equipment in settings that may involve noise, vibration, and extreme temperatures.
WHAT we need you to do.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow machine-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform machine setup and maintain continuous machine operation
- Monitor machine settings and record production and scrap
- Conduct and document quality testing
- May operate a forklift (license required)
- Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards
Essential Physical Requirements
The position requires medium-level exertion , including:
- Standing, walking: Frequent to constant
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (up to 50 lbs.): Frequent *Note: Certain tasks may occasionally require handling weights exceeding 50 lbs. Specific requirements can be discussed with Human Resources.

Purpose / General Description: The Block Machine Technician and Operator is responsible for leading either daily or nightly operations at the Block Plant. This includes coordinating schedules with the Day Shift and Night Shift Plant Manager, as well as training and supporting Block Machine Operators, Machine Operators, General Laborers, and Forklift Drivers.
 
A key responsibility of this role is performing and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance on Besser and Columbia block machines to ensure optimal performance, minimize downtime, and support continuous production.
 
The Block Machine Technician/Operator is accountable for maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards throughout the Night Shift or Day Shift operations.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate batching systems, block machines, splitters, curing systems, and related automation.
- Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain safe, efficient production.
- Operate forklifts, perform tool changes, and keep work areas clean.
- Conduct maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Accurately track production data and complete reports.
- Follow all safety and operational procedures while working as part of a team.
- Train team members on equipment operation and safety protocols.
•3–5 years of experience operating block machines (Besser, Columbia, Tiger, etc.).
•3-5 years of leadership experience in roles such as Team Lead
•3-5 years of maintenance experience, including preventive maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
•2 years of heavy equipment operation (forklifts, front-end loaders, etc.).
 
Physical Requirements: Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this role safely and successfully in compliance with federal, state, and local standards (ADA, FMLA, etc.). This includes regular lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, and extended periods of outdoor work. Employees must maintain regular and punctual attendance and possess the visual acuity necessary to maintain safety awareness.
 
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
