The ROLE:

The Maintenance Engineer leads electrical engineering support of plant

issues that are impacting production day to day. Acts as the technical

expert responsible for resolving equipment based or repair

technique-based issues, which impact the availability and

maintainability of the facility. Serves as subject matter expert in

equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause

investigations. Provides input to MIQA process. Performs regular field

assessments of equipment.

Qualifications :

- BS Electrical Engineering or related discipline required

- 5-10 years of manufacturing or related experience required;

Responsibilities:

- Develops Maintenance Procedure Use Policy: 1) Performs technical

reviews of procedures; 2) Serves as a technical resource during

procedure creation and review; 3) Creates and reviews job procedures

and checklists, and initiates procedure Management of Change work

process (MOC).

- Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair

techniques during root cause investigations.

- Delivers maintenance input into project activities and acts as

electrical maintenance representative for capital projects.

- Develops turnaround scopes and supports turnaround activities.

- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts to develop work scopes and

drive solutions.

- Delivers input to the Reliability Top Opportunity List.

- Provides input to Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance (MIQA)

process.

- Performs regular field assessments of equipment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead initiatives to enhance mill facilities and work processes, focusing on operational efficiency, safety, compliance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives, while addressing gaps identified through audits.
  • Participate in safety assessments, investigations, and contractor coordination during construction phases to uphold safety standards and mitigate risks.
  • Manage projects, including electrical systems, and tackle field engineering challenges outside typical planning scope, providing practical solutions without requiring full-scale project execution.
  • Produce, review, and verify engineering design details using AutoCAD/SolidWorks, develop scopes of work, and design, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems with tools like EasyPower.
  • Provide technical and engineering expertise to maintenance and operations teams, including diagnosing and resolving electrical issues (e.g., PLCs, drives, automation systems) and developing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC programs to optimize performance.
  • Develop and review preventative maintenance tasks with appropriate frequencies to prevent failures and perform root cause failure analysis to resolve electrical system issues effectively.
  • Conduct load calculations, motor sizing, equipment and drive upgrades (including variable speed drives), and operational efficiency improvements, while executing tasks driven by operational and planner requests.
  • Use SAP for tracking maintenance activities and inventory management, ensure accurate project documentation, and support construction, startup, and commissioning activities for successful project implementation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Experience implementing NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code® (NEC®).

  • Responsible for machinery reliability improvement and engineering
  • Assists with maintenance planning, daily and yearly outages and predictive maintenance
  • Manages spare parts
  • Plans, coordinates and schedules work required
  • Supervises contractors and orders materials to ensure efficiency and success
  • Assists with capital budget and maintenance projects
  • Provides guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of the principles of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Physical requirements: standing, stooping, walking on various surfaces and terrains, climbing up to 380 feet, lifting up to 70 lbs., walking long distances, ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process
  • Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
  • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone and various lab chemicals; see MSDS for more details
  • Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces 

Preferred:

  • Experience in project work in a manufacturing environment, preferably a cement plant
  • Experience with ERP system, preferably SAP
