Job Description:

Summary

The Preventive Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing all preventive maintenance activities across the organization to ensure the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of equipment and machinery. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, extending asset lifespan, and improving operational efficiency through proactive maintenance strategies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for equipment, machinery, and facilities.
  • Create maintenance schedules based on manufacturer recommendations, industry standards, and operational data.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is documented and logged appropriately.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and staff.
  • Assign work orders and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance and failure trends to optimize maintenance plans.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of heavy civil construction experience, with 5 years of experience in Equipment and/or Services
  • HCSS and heavy equipment 360 experience preferred but not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
  • Experience with Procurement materials and parts
  • Moderate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word
  • Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
  • Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind. Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
  • Will require some bending and lifting of up to 100 Lbs.

Skills You Bring:

  • 5 years manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting of glass cutting/fabricating equipment and tempering ovens experience is preferred.
  • Ability to solve mechanical/electrical problems.
  • Experience with spending the majority of time on the manufacturing floor. This is not a manage-via-the-office position.

  • Develops, implements and trends preventative maintenance programs in conjunction with maintenance personnel.
  • Reviews production, quality control and maintenance reports and/or statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and optimize the utilization of labor and materials.
  • Submits requisitions for tools, parts, equipment and standard maintenance supplies required for successful operations.
  • Directs training and work instructions for workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Confers with management, production schedulers and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve operations and optimize machine / equipment life and performance.
  • Work with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, and updating older equipment.
  • Provide input for capital projects including identifying scope, costs, milestones, etc.
  • Planning and execution of the preventative maintenance programs. Improve the reliability of the equipment.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to maintenance staff in all aspects of their work.
  • Serves as a key resource for safety related issues with the goal of meeting/exceeding OSHA requirements for a safe workplace.

Skills You Bring:

  • 5 years manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting of glass cutting/fabricating equipment and tempering ovens experience is preferred.
  • Ability to solve mechanical/electrical problems.
  • Experience with spending the majority of time on the manufacturing floor. This is not a manage-via-the-office position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead maintenance operations across the facility to ensure all manufacturing and support equipment meet company safety and quality standards.

About the Role

The Maintenance Manager position will lead a multi-site team of maintenance associates, as well as potentially supervise Area Maintenance Managers, and ensure a safe working environment for all.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Support the Operations team by working in a safe, customer-focused manner; and must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric.
  • Develop and design innovative solutions to difficult problems, manage outside contractors and be on call for emergencies.
  • Handle multiple internal and externally sponsored projects and daily activities, manage to and meet deadlines, and develop & track plans on how to accomplish departmental and distribution goals.
  • Work with local site Safety department leadership to understand, implement, and audit safety programs. Ensure that all safety programs and procedures are followed.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and good working relationships with operations leadership.
  • Facilitate technical and safety training, as well as help to develop professional development of departmental facilities associates.
  • Mentor all maintenance associates by motivating and providing direction to help them achieve their goals and make a consistent effort to go above and beyond.
  • Develop Maintenance department business plans and provide guidance and direction for the successful implementation of those plans.
  • Work with site Finance team to develop, set and track budgets.
  • Participate in and support efficiency improvement Kaizen activities for the site, as well as the network when needed.
  • Develop capital spending plans, facilitate cross-functional project planning and perform cost analysis.
  • Own and promote excellent housekeeping.
  • Participate in weekly network Maintenance calls and periodic Maintenance Manager off site conferences.
  • Candidates must have the ability to provide specific, enriched feedback to enhance individual performance, and provide associates with written performance appraisals including discipline and up to termination.
  • Travel up to 20% at a minimum.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to work a flexible a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil)
  • Ability to travel to various sites as needed.
  • 5+ years' experience in the distribution or manufacturing field with equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Manager, you will be a key player in providing leadership and strategic direction for the production maintenance group, at the Carrollton, TX, plant, a manufacturer of quality refrigerated dough products.

This role will provide maintenance leadership to deliver a world-class operation. Lead, motivate, and develop employees to achieve outstanding manufacturing results, while leveraging Continuous Improvement (TPM) tools, improving individual skills, and enhancing teamwork.

You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
  • Playing a leading role in ensuring a safety-first culture through actively supporting the site's health and safety program in addition to ensuring that all Food Safety and Quality guidelines are followed.
  • Responsible for leading the maintenance department as the Plant Progressive Maintenance Pillar leader.
  • Driving standards and consistency across the maintenance department. Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and production requirements.
  • This position requires considerable interaction with plant floor personnel, leadership team, engineering, external support, and vendors.
  • Supports the role of Project Manager for annually allocated capital budget to help grow business, improve operational efficiency, and improve site infrastructure and support site safety and quality projects.
  • Providing coaching, training, feedback and mentorship to maintenance technicians, coordinators, and admin staff.
Important Details:
  • This is a full-time, on-site role on first shift. Occasional flexibility is required to support alternate shifts.
You'll fit right in if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Five years or more in a technical management or supervisory role within food manufacturing industry is required.
  • Developed and managed maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation while aligning with overall operational and financial goals.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, controls, mechanical and electrical components found in food manufacturing machinery as well as proper safety standards for food production equipment.
  • Experience in creating, executing, and monitoring manufacturing technical standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of lean and six sigma techniques and tools are an asset.
  • Experience in the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to successfully run a maintenance department; knowledge in SAP Plant Maintenance a plus.
