Summary

A Production Equipment Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing facilities by maintaining and repairing production equipment and machinery. This position is essential for minimizing downtime, increasing productivity, and ensuring the safety of employees in a manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with production teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix equipment issues promptly.

Job Responsibilities
• Equipment Inspection and Preventive Maintenance:
• Conduct routine inspections of production equipment to identify wear and tear, damage, or potential issues.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Troubleshooting and Repair:
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, analyze root causes, and determine the best course of action for repairs.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs on production machinery.
• Replace defective parts and components as necessary and ensure proper calibration.

Emergency Repairs:
• Respond quickly to unexpected equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
• Collaborate with production teams to prioritize and address critical repairs.
• Coordinate with external vendors or specialists when necessary.

Safety Compliance:
• Ensure that all equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct safety checks and implement safety improvements as needed.
• Train production staff on the safe operation of machinery.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
• Generate reports on equipment performance and maintenance costs.
• Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary.

Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement upgrades and modifications.
• Assist with and actively participate in maintenance activities in adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards, ensuring compliance with QMS requirements.

Inventory Management:
• Manage and track spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of critical components.
• Order and stock necessary spare parts and maintain supplier relationships.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on complex electrical and mechanical production equipment and systems.
  • Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness.
  • Performs equipment failure analysis to complete preventive and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems.
  • Logs equipment modifications and maintenance details in the designated system.
  • Follows all safety procedures.
  • Proven experience in production equipment maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and industrial control systems is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to emergencies.

Description
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Water Superintendent. Performs daily tasks as assigned.

Examples of Duties
  • Performs installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of water meters including remote reading devices
  • Maintenance of pressure regulating valves; maintenance, repair, and installation of fire hydrants
  • Maintenance and repair of all aspects of the water distribution system from ¾" water services to 20" mains
  • Maintenance of sewer collection system (e.g., cleaning, televising, root cutting); maintenance of water meter and pressure regulating vaults
  • Landscaping, grading, and seeding of yard, pours and finishes concrete sidewalks and approaches
  • Tests water samples
  • Operates heavy equipment (e.g., trucks, tractors, backhoe, front-end loader, air compressor, jet truck, mower
  • Uses shop and/or hand tools (e.g., hammer, drill, staple gun, saw)
  • Performs water ditches and sewer lateral inspections. Takes final meter readings on residential/commercial sites
  • Walking and reading meters
  • Handles delinquent accounts by making collections/distributing past due notices door-to-door
  • Terminates water service by shutting off water service to customers
  • Assists the public by providing routine information and answering questions
  • Responds to customer complaints/need for service (e.g., high water bills, low water pressure, water taste, color, odor)
  • Performs other related maintenance tasks and documents all work performed
  • Installs/maintains water/sewer inventory and software/GIS mapping software packages
  • Maintains water/sewer atlases
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of Construction, Utility, Maintenance, Repair and/or Inspection experience
Licensure or Certification Requirements
  • Valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes and tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment. The City will provide training.
  • Possession of Class 1 Water Distribution Certification at the time of application or ability to obtain within 18 months of employment and/or Class 1 Collection Certification. The City will provide training.

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for installing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems. They will also be doing preventative maintenance to maintain and keeping them in a safe and working order.

Responsibilities include
• Solving moderate problems
