Position Overview
This position will be accountable for performing fast, accurate, high-quality tire installations on light, medium and heavy trucks, as well as agricultural vehicles. Services include, but are not limited to:
- Tire and Wheel Service
- Preventative Maintenance Service
- 24-Hour Emergency Road Service (On-Call Rotation)
This position is technical in nature and requires a large commitment and investment in personal training and development. As you gain knowledge and experience, you will be able to start working towards your A.S.E. Certifications (company paid).
Requirements:- Prior experience servicing automotive, commercial truck, or farm vehicles preferred, but not required
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Must have a current valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Able to lift 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand, kneel and crawl while operating equipment and tools
- Must also be at least 21 years old
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Reporting to the Crew Supervisor and/or Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the Montclair State University Facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Cleans campus facilities alone or in teams; cleans public areas and meeting spaces.
- Performs room set-ups; replaces light bulbs, cleans light fixtures and restrooms.
- Sweeps, mops, strips and waxes, buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.
- Collects and removes trash, brings trash to curb or receptacles, transfers recyclable materials.
- Dusts all surfaces and vents and cleans inside window surfaces.
- Cleans desks, tables, chairs and removes graffiti.
- Cleans offices, classrooms, and work areas.
- Performs snow removal as directed.
- Attends in-service training and participates in University quality and processing improvement initiatives.
- Assists with the sorting, distribution, transportation and storage of cleaning supplies.
- Keeps janitorial closet stocked and clean; maintains housekeeping equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED :

General duties of this role include performing air/water quality management, cleaning, maintenance, and repair work. Maintenance responsibilities encompass routine upkeep of the building's systems, conduct inspections to identify potential issues, and implement preventative maintenance measures to avoid future problems.
Job Responsibilities
1. Perform a variety of building maintenance work, including minor plumbing repair, carpentry, masonry, electrical, and painting. Replace light bulbs.
2. Rake, mow, and water lawns and care for flower beds.
3. Clean, disinfect, and deodorize restrooms and replenish supplies on a work order basis.
4. Sweep walks, shovel snow, and spread salt or other ice control materials manually or while operating equipment. Operate snow removal equipment.
5. Empty wastebaskets; pick up and dispose of litter and other waste materials.
6. Pick up scrap and waste in and around buildings and remove trash in scrap containers.
7. Turn out lights; open and secure municipal buildings.
8. Paint and refinish walls, ceilings, woodwork, furniture, and other equipment.
9. May direct temporary employees assigned to clean buildings. Replace light bulbs and clean and polish brass, chrome, mirrors, and other metal work. Dust desks, workstations, tabletops, and other related areas.
10. May monitor and assist in the operation of high- and/or low-pressure boilers, change filters, lubricate moving parts, and replace belts.
11. Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and/or sound systems for conferences, conventions, and other public activities in City buildings.
12. Assist with department moves.
13. Operate City vehicles.
14. Operate, repair, and maintain various power-equipped cleaning equipment. Service batteries in floor cleaning machines.
15. Perform urgent custodial duties as needed to keep a clean building and assist others as assigned by management.
16. Perform other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED certification with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in custodial and building maintenance work, including minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Must be willing and will be required to work a varied schedule including weekends and evening hours.
Willing to work standby duty for building security systems, HVAC/R, and maintenance alerts.
Possession of a valid driver's license prior to hire is required.

- Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, methods, and equipment employed in cleaning and maintenance operations.
