JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for all duties of a Nurse Practitioner. This position is responsible for providing expert medical care to patients with a range of potential illnesses, injuries, or disabilities. The Nurse Practitioner will conduct routine physical examinations on patients of all ages, referring patients to medical specialists or counseling services, and prescribing medication based on the patient's conditions. This position will also assist Physicians in clinic following established standards and practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct health assessments including recording complete medical and mental health history.
• Select, order, perform, and interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient conditions and augment physical findings.
• Discuss and explain treatments and medications thoroughly with patients and authorized representatives, advising them of all side effects, and reviewing all allergy information is current prior to prescribing any medication or treatment.
• Maintain knowledge of current medical procedures, developments, treatments, and available medications.
• Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
• Prescribe and administer vaccinations and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
• Perform non-emergency procedures including laceration repairs, abscess incision and drainage, ear irrigation, minor burn care, splinting, wart removal, and minor wound care.
• Provide referrals to medical specialists and counseling services.
• Notate findings and treatment courses in patient chart in a timely manner.
• Maintain work area in a clean, sanitized, and organized manner.
• Follows all Infection Prevention policies and procedures.
• Attends annual required company programs and trainings.
• Attends all regular required department and company meetings.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality.
• Performs all other tasks and projects assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Medical Degree from an accredited university required.
• Board Certification in family practice, emergency medicine, or other ABMS recognized specialty.
• Federal and Colorado State licensure (APN, RXN, DEA) required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Understanding of medical coding and billing.
• Knowledge of relevant drugs, their chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical process and transformations they undergo.
• Experience with non-pharmaceutical patient care aids, the applicable uses, and relevance to patient care.
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate new and current provider staff.
• Ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients, their families, and staff.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong ethical code of conduct.
• Ability to maintain sensitive confidential information.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Major activities of this job include sitting for long periods of time, moving from place to place, and light physical effort performed on a level surface. Use of a computer, telephone, writing, and organizational skills. Manual dexterity for use of computer keyboard and calculator, mobility and good vision (includes near acuity and depth perception). May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 lbs., occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Requires ability to communicate effectively and have hearing within a normal range. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Nurse Practitioner. The work environment is indoors in an office / medical clinic setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, moving equipment, and other conditions common to a medical clinic environment. Requires working under stress in emergency situations, meeting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.

This part-time (30 hours per week) position will assist the director of the school of education with program assessment/evaluation, data entry and management, and some student advising/tracking. Primary duties include gathering information about students from school of education forms and other electronic processes and entering that data into the school's data management system (TEIMS) so that local, state, and national reporting is as accurate as possible. Maintain the school of education data management system (TEIMS) and its records by updating out-of-date information, removing incorrect entries, and transforming old records into the new TEIMS format so that they are as useful as possible in local, state, and federal reporting. Assist the director of the school of education with program assessment and evaluation. Ancillary duties as assigned.

The School of Education (SoE) has a primary mission of preparing and developing teachers and administrators of quality and distinction. This is a campus-wide responsibility, with purposeful collaborations among many other departments. The joint efforts of students, faculty, and administrators focus on improving the quality of learning at every level from birth through higher education. The School of Education is part of the College of Health and Education and offers educator preparation programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in art, computer science, culturally and linguistically diverse education, early childhood education, elementary education, English, math, music, physical education, principal, science, social studies, Spanish, and special education. Additionally, the School of Education offers a variety of Master of Education (M.Ed.) degrees for educators both online and in-person, as well as an online doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership that is designed to generate highly qualified administrators for P-12 and higher education.
