**Job Description**
A **Manual Test Engineer** is needed to perform component, integration, and system level testing by writing and executing system-level test procedures, evaluating changes made to software applications, and verifying defect corrective actions discovered during development, testing, and/or operational use. The selected individual will join the existing Manual Test team in support of a fast-paced, dynamic software development program. The Manual Test team is part of a test organization that includes teams that automate regression tests and maintain the testing framework and infrastructure. The selected individual will utilize basic system administration skills and will work with physical equipment in a test lab environment.
**Primary Responsibilities**
The Manual Test Engineer will perform system testing of components (modules), and integration testing through system and end-to-end evaluation. The candidate will develop and implement test procedures and test reports and will support the software configuration management process. The candidate must understand all software components and their interface requirements. Tasking will include developing test data; defining test acceptance criteria; providing system testing expertise for test procedure documentation; reviewing of test plans; developing test methodologies, and/or performing subsystem interface and software module testing. The selected individual will assist the Software Development team and be responsible for working collaboratively with the following groups: Software Development, System Engineering, Integration, Deployment, and Sustainment.
**Basic Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management, or a related discipline and at least 12 years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
+ Must have experience testing through a full system development life cycle, including implementing test plans, test cases, and test processes.
+ Must have experience participating in formal test events (Acceptance Test, User Acceptance Test, Software Final Release Test, Maintenance Release Test, etc.).
+ Must have experience collaborating with software developers to create formal test procedures.
+ Must have experience working with physical equipment in a test lab environment.
+ Must have experience collecting, analyzing, presenting test results verbally and reporting test results in writing.
+ Must have experience utilizing elevated privileges to set up and execute manual test procedures.
+ Must have experience documenting test results for corrective actions, reporting, and audits.
+ Must have experience testing systems from existing system and functional specifications.
+ Must have experience working in an agile team environment.
+ Must have strong communication skills and be able to successfully communicate with both management and technical personnel.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
+ Experience using automated test tools.
+ Experience with programming and scripting languages (i.e., Java, shell, Python, etc).
+ SAFe® Agilist or DevOps certification.

**Position Description:**
We are seeking a QA Manual Tester to join our CGI team!

The QA Manual Tester gathers and analyzes data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements, enhancements, and will plan and support direct supervisor in executing, training, and supporting the team.
This will include writing test plans and scripts for tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, writing test plans and scripts for application development, information systems, and operations systems.
The QA Manual Tester exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives. Use deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders. Focuses on providing thought leadership within Information Management but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business.
This position can be based in Hartford-CT, Nashville-TN, Lafayette-LA, Austin-TX, Dallas-TX where a hybrid model is acceptable. Lafayette, LA is highly preferred.
**Your future duties and responsibilities:**
**How you'll make an impact**
- Define test process including required test activities, deliverables and test schedule
- Understand how changes impact work upstream and downstream including various back end and front-end architectural modules
- Responsible for developing smoke, functional and regression test suites for GUI Front End, and Database backend
- Document, maintain, and monitor software problems
- Recommend strategies and methods to improve test plans and test processes
- As a member of the scrum team, closely interact with both onsite and offshore team members. The onsite and offshore interactions include scrum team members (Scrum masters, developers, Product Owners and QA at onsite and offshore)
- Define test data conditions and partners and work closely with Data team to obtain the data
- Actively participate in all phases of testing (In sprint functional testing, integration testing and regression), Business requirement analysis, test design, defect logging and tracking
- Actively engage in defect reporting and triaging
- Adheres to the organization's Quality Engineering best practices
**Required qualifications to be successful in this role:**
**What you'll bring**
- Minimum of 2-5 years' Quality Assurance experience working as a Quality Assurance Manual Tester:
o Must have hands-on experience with manual testing
o Must be able to understand the concepts of interoperability testing and contract testing between systems. Familiar with JSON validation techniques
o Intermediate Microsoft SQL query skills required, exposure to writing/editing complex SQL queries
o Experience in Design, development and implementation of QA strategy
o Must have broad knowledge experience with testing and modeling tools and change management and test case generation techniques
o Experience with test management and defect tracking tools
o Must have worked in SCRUM and is able to work in fast-paced development environment
o Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
o Ability to collaborate with a team of Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project
Managers and Application Developers in various locations to test configuration of business requirements
o Excel, OneNote, SharePoint experience needed
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Desired Skills:
Exposure to Automation Testing and technologies a plus
Adaptable and flexible to business demands
Prior experience in the Health Care industry preferred

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $45,700.00 - $97,500.00.
