As we navigate the complexities of developing technology, BAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Director to identify and drive manufacturing technologies that support the vision for factory workplace of the future. The Manufacturing Director manages the defense manufacturing facility and reports to the C4ISR Business Area Operations Director. This role will serve as the factory lead dedicated to manufacturing of products that meet or exceed performance for quality, delivery, and cost while driving a continuous improvement culture. The candidate will manage operations-related plans, budgets, policies, and procedures while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance relating to the manufacturing facility. This role has a 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off.
Responsibilities are listed as follows:
+ Operations leadership in a high volume high / mix manufacturing leading teams in manufacturing of complex electro/mechanical hardware.
+ Accountability for performance metrics to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
+ Drives Factory Standardization by leveraging common manufacturing processes.
+ Develops the team with the skills and capabilities to meet the factory demands through staff development, mentoring, & personal growth opportunities.
+ Shape Team Culture and workforce integrity in the factory. Establishes a work environment of openness and trust where employees are challenged, developed, and work together as a team to achieve business objectives.
+ Factory ownership responsible to ensure manufacturing readiness.
+ Implements lean and continuous improvement activities in the business.
+ Manages functional expense budgets and manufacturing rates.
+ Ensures product meets requirements for Transition to Production.
+ Manages Factory Capacity modeling & capital utilization.
+ Lead or support complex affordability projects, including future automation efforts where applicable.

+ Develop and implement both a manufacturing and technical roadmap for the 5-year IBP.
+ Collaborate with FAST Labs and New Product Introduction organizations to connect Technology IRAD with Manufacturing IRAD to develop a comprehensive plan that incorporates both aspects for future development.
+ Pursue and execute Manufacturing IRAD projects to advance Operations capability and technical expertise
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration this role will be performed full-time on site.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Significant Operations leadership experience.
+ Knowledge and/or experience with AS9145/APQP or similar performance quality standards.
+ Continuous Improvement philosophy and practice Lean Six Sigma.
+ Proven record of on time, on budget, high quality product production.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Manage and mentor the manufacturing leadership team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Implement and champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the manufacturing budget, including labor, materials, and overhead, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
- Oversee inventory management, production planning, and supply chain coordination.
- Drive initiatives for process optimization and technology adoption within the manufacturing environment.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations management, with significant leadership responsibility.
- Proven expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt certification preferred), and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, inventory control, and supply chain management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and foster a positive, productive work environment.
- Excellent financial acumen and experience managing multi-million dollar budgets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
