Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements production plans to ensure timely product delivery and minimize downtime. The engineer analyzes manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities, implements TPM/Continuous Improvement and Lean principles to enhance efficiency, and utilizes SAP for production planning and inventory management. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations are also key responsibilities. Reports to Plant Superintendent or Production Manager and works closely Operations, Production, Logistics, and Lab/Quality Assurance

As Manufacturing Engineer you are responsible for:

  • Manufacturing Planning and Control
    1. Develop and implement production plans to ensure timely delivery of products.
    2. Monitor production schedules and adjust plans with Production Manager as needed to meet demand and minimize downtime.
    3. Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate with vendors for best pricing and quality of production supplies.
    4. Identify obsolete components and identify replacements and alternatives.
    5. Co-Site champion for production system employee training, system utilization, trend analysis, and work center efficiency/optimization reviews.    
  • Process Optimization
    1. Analyze manufacturing and integration processes to identify areas for improvement.
    2. Reinforce TPM/Continuous Improvement methodology and implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
    3. Identify root causes of production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and production variability.
  • SAP Management
    1. Utilize SAP for production planning, inventory management, cost analysis, and process monitoring.
    2. Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of production-related information in SAP (backflushes and confirmations).
    3. Generate and analyze reports from SAP to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
    4. Co-champion the site integration SAP version updates.
  • Quality Assurance

    1. Collaborate with the Lab Manager and Quality Manager to ensure products meet quality standards.
    2. Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Team Collaboration
    1. Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering and operations to achieve manufacturing goals.
    2. Provide technical support and training to operations staff on SAP usage and manufacturing processes.
    3. Support mechanical design with the engineering group.
    4. Collaborate with Corporate Engineering Team on CAPEX projects and multi-site system integrations.
    5. Project Management and project leadership 
  • Health and Safety
    1. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    2. Promote a culture of safety within the manufacturing team.
    3.  Co-champion all safety program activities including incident investigations, root cause analysis, safety committee leadership, and CAPEX integrations/installations
Qualifications

To perform your job as expected, you will be required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from 4-year college or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both. 
  • Proven experience as a Production Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP (production module) is required.
  • Knowledge of TPM/Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent math skills, as well as oral, written, reading and reading comprehension skills in order to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency on Microsoft Suite (MS Office), AutoCAD, SAP and Prism

**Detailed Description**
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
+ Directs activities to support all manufacturing operations equipment availability (uptime), preventative maintenance of equipment, scheduling of technician training, project planning and implementation, scheduling of equipment installation, purchasing of spare parts and supplies for area related needs.
+ Supports and manages customer test process sustaining effort including incorporation of engineering changes and identifying yield improvements efforts.
