Summary: Hera Technologies, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Estimator to join our team working in a hands-on, collaborative environment. The individual will be responsible for preparing work estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents from customers and computing costs by identifying labor, material, outside supplier processing, and time requirements. This role will take full ownership of related activities performed by multi‐disciplined cross‐functional teams.

FLSA Classification: Salary Exempt

Type: Full-time

Work hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm; Some overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Hours may be adjusted at the discretion of your supervisor.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 annually

Reports to: Manager of PMO & Estimating

Location: 100% onsite at 1055 E Francis St. Ontario, CA 91761 USA

Essential Job Duties (which include, but not limited to):

  • Gather information on scope of work and requirements needed for machine shop work to gain a complete understanding of the project.
  • Determine manufacturing steps/processes, equipment, CNC programming, setup operations, material required, labor hours, outside supplier processing requirements, testing requirements, and other customer specification requirements to perform work.
  • Identify and quote out special process approved suppliers per drawing and customer requirements.
  • Calculate production costs using established labor and overhead rates, raw material costs, and outside supplier processing price estimates.
  • Review and interpret Quality Clauses flowed down in quote requests when applicable and mitigate risk to Hera Technologies, LLC accordingly.
  • Work with machine shop management and staff to understand and develop shop manufacturing plans.
  • Prepare formal price and delivery quotations for internal and external customers.
  • Communicate with customers and machine shop management and staff on machine shop proposals, quotations, and projects.
  • Follow up on open RFQs and proposals with customers and properly re-issue quotes and proposals when necessary.
  • Maintain the active database of RFQs and proposals and properly close them out when appropriate for accuracy of statuses and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in the preparation of work instructions for new and existing projects.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Support 5-S and adhere to health, safety, and environmental company guidelines.
  • Perform cross-functional operations as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6+ years of Machine Shop Estimating/Quoting experience of medium to high complexity parts, including knowledge of setup and operation of a diverse range of machines. Estimating/Quoting experience must be with CNC Mill and Lathe operations.
  • Extensive experience/knowledge in reading, analyzing, and understanding technical specifications, drawings, sketches, bills of material, material and process specifications, quality clauses, and associated documentation.
  • Extensive experience/knowledge of the types of tooling required for specific applications, and generalized machine shop procedures.
  • Experience estimating and quoting in a low to mid-volume Job Shop environment.
  • Experience with the planning and manufacturing modules of ERP systems.
  • Extensive experience with the machining of different types of materials, including metallics, plastics, composites, honeycombs, and ablatives.
  • Excellent 2D drawing interpretation skills along with a thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven knowledge and skills of safety and environmental measures associated with machining operations.
  • Ability to identify and quote out special process approved suppliers per drawing and customer requirements
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic math, algebra, and basic statistical data.
  • Ability to research, interpret, comprehend, and retain job related information and instructions.
  • Ability to understand, offer and implement solutions to machining problems and challenges.
  • Ability to use inspection and measurement tools in the verification of part dimensions.
  • Ability and willingness to develop, coach, and train department personnel.
  • Good working knowledge of machined parts inspection methods and tools and equipment.
  • Excellent machine shop EHS knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English to communicate professionally with machine shop personnel, management, and customers.
  • Ability to learn to perform cross-functional operations.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Most of the work hours are in an air-conditioned open office with an assigned cubicle and comfortable seating; will require limited walk-throughs in the production area which is not air-conditioned, is noisy, and requires safety protocols.
  • The incumbent will spend a portion of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules. They wear safety glasses to protect their eyes from airborne debris. Loud noise from machinery requires use of hearing protectors. They wear hard toe shoes or boots to protect their feet from potentially dropped objects.

The Manufacturing Cost Estimator will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates and quotes for precision aerospace components and mass-produced data center parts. Both part families consist of CNC machining, friction stir welding (FSW), and complex fabrication processes. Responsibilities

Manufacturing Cost Estimator Responsibilities:
  • Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to understand scope and manufacturing requirements.
  • Analyze customer RFQ's and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for CNC machining, welding (especially FSW), fabrication, and assembly operations.
  • Determine material, labor, machine time, tooling, and subcontracting needs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing staff and outside vendors to verify feasibility and optimize cost.
  • Maintain historical cost data and standard estimating practices.
  • Participate in proposal reviews and provide cost breakdowns as needed.

The Manufacturing Development Engineer will support cost estimation and process development activities for machining and fabrication operations related to advanced vehicle platforms. Base Salary Range: $56,000 - $79,000

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing Cost Estimator Responsibilities:

    Provide timely manufacturing product quotes based on customer requirements to existing & potential customer base.
  • Develops and maintain performance metrics for quoting team (i.e. completion to target, Com. Ex.).
  • Source material and outside operations requests with vendors.
  • Conduct Contract Review as to verify that all correct information is included in system prior to initiation of production and costs updated.
  • Assist outside & inside sales representatives to service potential and existing customers as requested.
  • Identify additional supplier options able to provide competitive quality products on time.
  • Identify secondary sources of supply, when applicable.
  • Investigate and research new materials, suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity and delivery and achieve operational excellence
  • Keep abreast of materials and material pricing trends that effect company products. Share this with our management team, as appropriate.
  • Participate in APQP meetings and process to ensure new products costs within budget.
  • Maintains standard metals pricing and stocking lists from metals suppliers.
  • Lead project teams to accomplish MBP's goals, as related to our Annual Strategic Goals and our Balanced Scorecard initiatives.
  • Maintains knowledge of processing rates and methods from operations to accurately quote.

Manufacturing Cost Estimator Qualifications:

  • Ability to create written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Advanced blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cost accounting, production processes, and industry trends

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to make accurate estimates even with limited data

A growing industrial organization is seeking a Estimator (Manufacturing) to support estimating functions across machining and metal fabrication operations. This role involves analyzing technical documentation to develop accurate cost estimates that align with internal capabilities and customer requirements. The Estimator works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive pricing and efficient production planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to develop detailed estimates for materials, labor, and time.
  • Assess internal resources versus outsourcing needs for machining, welding, forming, and finishing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure cost-effective and manufacturable solutions.
  • Generate and submit accurate and timely cost proposals.
  • Maintain and update estimating tools, pricing data, and historical job costing records.
  • Communicate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders for pricing, lead times, and technical clarifications.
  • Participate in job reviews to identify opportunities for improving future estimating accuracy and project outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Background in machining and/or metal fabrication environments preferred.

Responsibilities

+ Develop detailed cost estimates using internal data and supplier quotes.
+ Complete and maintain cost sheets for each quote and quote revisions.
+ Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing for materials, subcontracted services, and components.
+ Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to ensure accurate and feasible estimates.
+ Ensure all estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
+ Maintain organized records of quotes, the quote log, and supporting documentation.
+ Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating within a manufacturing environment, preferably involving machining and welding processes.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications including GD&T.
+ Experience with ERP systems; Epicor ERP E10 is a plus.
+ Familiarity with CAD software; SolidWorks experience is a plus.
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

The pay range for this position is $6000.00 - $75000.00/hr.
