Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and production processes based on specifications.
- Utilize historical data and collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine estimates.
- Support the engineering team by gathering and analyzing relevant data from drawings and specifications.
- Work with project managers, engineers, and customer service teams to ensure project costs are accurate and within budget.
- Maintain and update a cost database for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Assist in preparing proposals, tracking project budgets, and ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation in estimating processes.
- Perform other duties as required by the VP of Engineering.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and a passion for numbers.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and cost estimation .

- Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and specifications.

Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing or perform services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. The goal of the estimator shall be to create a step by step instruction or routing sequence for manufacturing a part or assembly. Estimator must be able to determine proper material callouts, materials list, operation sequence, outside processes and outside processors based on customer and drawing requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
- Consult with clients, vendors, accountants, personnel in other departments, or the production team to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as production planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Confer with engineers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Review past estimates for accuracy against current performance and update and finalize estimates as required.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirement:
The minimum qualifications and experience demonstrated and/or achieved which are qualifying for Estimator.
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in engineering or related technical discipline. Or, High School Diploma or GED with minimum 4 years’ related experience.
· Minimum 1 year experience and demonstrated proficiency using a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) system, SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer .
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. (Verbal and written)
- Strong PC skills, proficiency with Windows, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Under the general direction of the Chief Estimator, the Senior Estimator leads the preparation of complete contract proposal estimates across multiple disciplines. This role works with minimal supervision, demonstrates advanced technical and strategic judgment, and plays a critical role in mentoring and guiding junior estimators. The Senior Estimator also contributes to estimating process improvements and alignment with company objectives and SOPs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the preparation of full-scope estimates, including detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing, and cost strategy development.

- Drive process improvements and contribute to the development of SOPs and estimating templates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required.
- 5–10 years of progressive estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Strong knowledge of estimating principles, takeoff methodology, subcontractor coordination, and cost analysis.

Job Description
Oxford Solutions has a great opportunity for an experienced Estimating & Sales Specialist to join our client's team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in fabrication or steel services who is organized, detail-oriented, and driven to succeed.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily communication with customers, providing quotes, pricing, lead times, and order support
- Introduce and promote products and services to new and existing clients
- Partner with outside sales, production, drafting, and vendors to coordinate schedules and meet customer requirements
- Review prints, specifications, and requirements to accurately estimate costs, materials, and timelines for projects
- Prepare sales order forms, proposals, and quotations while emphasizing product features and value
- Enter and maintain accurate information in the ERP system for customer relationship management
- Monitor order status to ensure quality, scheduling, and delivery commitments are met
- Provide feedback from customers to improve efficiency, quality, and service
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Associate's degree in Metallurgy, Drafting, or related engineering field preferred
- Prior experience in a fabrication or steel service center environment a plus
- Background in inside sales and/or estimating required
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
