Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, improve product quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role is critical in bridging the gap between product design and manufacturing, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and efficient production operations for complex parts and assemblies.
You will work closely with design engineers, quality teams, production staff, and suppliers to ensure that all manufacturing processes meet the high standards required in the aviation or automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and tooling for new and existing products.
+ Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
+ Analyze production data and implement Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and reduce cycle time.
+ Provide technical support for production line issues and implement root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
+ Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA) during the development phase.
+ Assist in the launch of new products and support the transfer of designs from prototype to full-scale production.
+ Select and validate equipment, fixtures, and process parameters using statistical methods (SPC, DOE).
+ Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (e.g., AS9100, IATF 16949).
+ Participate in FMEA, PFMEA, and control plan development.
+ Support audits and regulatory inspections as needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
+ 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in the aerospace or automotive industry.
+ Strong understanding of production processes such as CNC machining, assembly, welding, composites, or injection molding.
+ Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and manufacturing planning tools (e.g., ERP, MES).
+ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Familiarity with quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949).
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Manufacturing Engineer with direct client-facing experience to support and optimize production processes in the aerospace and aviation industry. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and customers to ensure products meet technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace and aviation components and assemblies.
Serve as a technical interface between the company and clients to ensure product manufacturability, compliance, and satisfaction.
Interpret and communicate customer technical requirements to internal teams, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities and processes.
Support new product introductions (NPI) from concept through production, including tooling design, work instructions, and process validation.
Collaborate with design engineering to influence DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) considerations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and efficiency using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues or customer complaints.
Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with industry standards, including AS9100, FAA regulations, and customer-specific requirements.
Participate in client meetings, audits, and on-site visits as the technical manufacturing representative.
Maintain detailed documentation including process flows, FMEAs, control plans, and technical reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
3-7 years of experience in aerospace or aviation manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated experience in a client-facing role, preferably with OEMs or Tier 1 aerospace suppliers.
Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, machining, assembly, and fabrication processes.
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and manufacturing tools such as ERP/MRP systems.
Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA certification requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification is a plus.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving improvements across assigned value streams to meet Safety, Internal and External Quality, on-time delivery, lead time reduction, and Productivity.

This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship. Disclosure as required by applicablelaw, the annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $118,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level. The salary range is CONMED's good faith belief at the time of this posting.
