Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Waterfront / Marine Engineering Senior Project Manager to join its collaborative team in New York City. This individual will serve a key function in in managing clients, pursuing new project opportunities, providing staff training and project leadership, providing waterfront/marine engineering expertise through engineering analysis and design of waterfront/marine structures, preparation of technical reports, specifications, drawings, and overseeing waterfront-related permit applications. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with other disciplines on both small-scale and large-scale private development and public infrastructure waterfront projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and review complex structural and geotechnical analyses;
- Oversee design for bulkheads, seawalls, relieving platforms, pile-supported platforms, breakwaters, revetments, stabilized embankments, mechanically stabilized earth and other waterfront structures;
- Oversee and review preparation of permit applications for waterfront permits (e.g., NYSDEC Tidal Wetlands Permits, USACE Section 10/404 Permits, NYCSBS Waterfront Permits);
- Oversee and review technical documents, reports, construction documents, and construction-related correspondence associated with the projects managed;
- Design and supervise field investigations, waterfront facility inspections, and engineering observations during waterfront construction activities;
- Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines;
- Prepare proposals, draft change orders, review invoices, project billings, and collect from clients; and
- Manage, lead and develop two to five staff and senior staff engineers.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering required;
- Master's degree in Structural, Geotechnical, or Coastal engineering preferred;
- Professional Engineer licensure in New York State or ability to achieve reciprocity required
- 10+ years of related waterfront/marine experience;
- Proven experience in preparing technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and waterfront facility inspections;
- Proven experience in project management including: writing proposals, running/coordinating projects, managing clients, managing billings, reviewing the work of staff and mentoring staff;
- Strong understanding of codes and other regulatory requirements;
- Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software;
- Possess an entrepreneurial and professional demeanor, as well as strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills;
- Desire and ability to seek out new business opportunities and develop additional clients while maintaining project workload;
- Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff;
- Demonstrated ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies;
- A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and social skills; and

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.

Provides engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Delivers work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
- Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and or other data matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Apply higher-order engineering techniques/practices to develop project design requirements, while incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. This includes identifying project site, design and construction related risks and providing mitigation solutions.

- Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Complete all assigned trainings.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, from ABET accredited program;
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline with demonstration of marine and coastal design experience (including rehabilitation and new design).
- Demonstrated ability to complete technical computations/calculations, involving the application of engineering principles to ports and marine structures. Highly proficient in technical writing, engineering software and tools, and engineering fundamentals including statics and logical problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD and SAP2000 and similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability in design/build processes.
- Familiarity with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
- Ability to plan, conduct and lead site inspections/ investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities, per applicable regulations and policies.
- Demonstrated self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC procedures.
- Demonstrated team leadership, including coordinating/directing subconsultants, to consistently complete tasks safely while arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

WSP USA is seeking multiple **Associate Consultants, Ports and Marine Engineering** to join our **National Maritime Practice Group** . This position can be based out of the following offices: Irvine-CA, Miami-FL, Seattle + Tacoma-WA, Houston-TX, Tampa-FL, and Raleigh-NC.
Provides engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Delivers work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
+ Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and or other data matrices for project development, design, and construction.
+ Apply higher-order engineering techniques/practices to develop project design requirements, while incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. This includes identifying project site, design and construction related risks and providing mitigation solutions.
+ Lead development of construction plans and schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects. Prepare and implement site safety activity plans and coordinate field work activities.
+ Oversee cross-functional teams to execute project work on a mid-level project and/or multiple concurrent smaller projects. This includes working collaboratively with other engineers and larger multi-disciplinary teams, on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects. Tasks include tracking budgets, and progress of milestone activities, as well supporting completion of Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) submissions.
+ Write technical reports, generating complete and concise documentation of findings, using sketches, calculations, excel spreadsheets, technical drawings, and other engineering software (including SAP200 and similar FEM tools).
+ Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients.
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Complete all assigned trainings.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, from ABET accredited program;
+ 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline with demonstration of marine and coastal design experience (including rehabilitation and new design).
+ Demonstrated ability to complete technical computations/calculations, involving the application of engineering principles to ports and marine structures. Highly proficient in technical writing, engineering software and tools, and engineering fundamentals including statics and logical problem-solving.
+ Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD and SAP2000 and similar tools.
+ Demonstrated ability in design/build processes.
+ Familiarity with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
