As a Shipfitter, your expertise in Flux Core Arc Welding will be put to the test as you perform with precision and efficiency on large fleet maritime vessels. Previous shipyard/welding experience is a plus as all candidates will need to successfully complete required shipfitting tests to meet our stringent quality standards.
**Additional shipfitting responsibilities include (but are not limited to):**
+ Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
+ Align and fit parts according to specifications.
+ Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units, following blueprints.
+ Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
+ Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
+ Tack-weld fitted parts together.
+ Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
+ Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to work pieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
+ Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal. **What Do We Want to Know About You? We're looking for candidates who possess:**
+ High school degree or equivalent.
+ 3-5+ years of experience in a custom build shop preferred.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints along with 3D prints/schematic
+ Physically able to lift 50 pounds - inclusive of walking/climbing stairs

In this role, you will partner with terminal managers, port supervisors, and IT teams to improve the systems and processes that keep our cargo and marine services running efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of tasks and initiatives related to Cargo & Inventory, TMS and other systems.

Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer – Maritime is a vital team member providing security services to the prestigious Duluth Seaway Port Authority. The Maritime Security Officer is responsible for performing Maritime Access Control protocol, enforcing required security policies and procedures, and performing required inspections.
Maritime Port Security Professional Job Responsibilities:
