About Us:

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like OpenAI, Toyota, Figma, Ramp, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches.

Notion is an in-person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

About the role:

At Notion, our community of devoted customers is at the core of everything we do, which means understanding their experiences, attitudes, and needs is essential to our success. We're looking for an experienced Market Researcher to deliver insights that maximize the impact of our marketing efforts especially top-of-funnel initiatives and partner closely with Growth Marketing, Demand Gen, Product Marketing, and Data Science teams.

This role will focus on customers who start using Notion individually and then bring it to work to collaborate with colleagues. The ideal candidate will be an expert at conducting hands-on quantitative and qualitative market research including implementing robust surveys to track brand awareness and sentiment, and delivering rich qualitative insights that clarify harder-to-measure aspects of the customer journey.

This is a unique opportunity to lay the groundwork and chart the future of Notion's Market Research Team. You'll not only be an expert in research techniques and practices, but also serve as a full-stack partner to teams across our Marketing organization.

What You'll Achieve:
  • Design and implement market research from project definition and design, to analysis and reporting, working at both a strategic and tactical level.

  • Identify high-impact research opportunities to deepen our understanding of customer attitudes, engagement, and needs.

  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive growth marketing, brand, and messaging strategy, as well as awareness, consideration, and conversion.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, partnering with Marketing, Sales, Product, and other teams across Notion.

  • Integrate alternate data sources (primary and secondary research, campaign analytics, attribution metrics, etc.) to triangulate and add depth to research insights.

  • Share research findings, leveraging clear communication strategies and advanced storytelling, and adapting your approach for different audiences.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:
  • You have 5+ years of professional industry experience in Market Research or Consumer Insights and a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, or similar.

  • You have a deep understanding, as well as hands-on experience in brand research, including questionnaire design and sampling strategies for brand tracking surveys, as well as best practices for measuring brand awareness, consideration, and sentiment.

  • You have deep knowledge of campaign evaluation and attribution metrics, and understand how to measure marketing effectiveness and connect the dots between brand perception and business outcomes.

  • Youre an expert at both quant and qualitative research methods, including running segmentation studies, campaign tests, conjoint or MaxDiff, and in-depth interviews. Most importantly, you know how to choose the right method(s) for the question at hand.

  • You excel at communicating research to executive stakeholders, and influencing go-to-market planning, execution, measurement by delivering the right insight, at the right level of detail, at the right time.

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with SQL or Python

  • Passion for working and learning in a fast-growing company.

  • Background at a high-growth B2B SaaS startup

  • Familiarity with our product (being a current Notion user would be great!)

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If youre excited about a role but your past experience doesnt align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If youre a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
