Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Content Specialist (Content Specialist) will serve as the primary researcher, author, and editor for a wide variety of print and communications projects across the institution. The Content Specialist will create clear and compelling copy for a variety of audiences, while ensuring adherence to the brand message. In addition to creating content, the specialist will proofread and edit content to ensure it is error-free. These include news stories covering timely and impactful topics across the school including clinic updates, student success stories, alumni profiles and faculty profiles.

In addition to preparing communications and marketing content, the role will use superlative research and collaboration skills to create internal documents in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders. These include briefings for the dean on industry topics, policy memos, proposals for new programs, and other topics as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

News Stories Content Creation & Updates

  • Develop and write compelling, SEO-optimized content for the law school's website, ensuring it stays up-to-date and aligned with marketing objectives. Focused on optimizing for keywords related to law school services and to attract search traffic from prospective students.
  • Following the content calendar, regularly update the website with new content.
  • Write longer form web stories including clinic updates, student and alumni success stories, and faculty profiles.
  • Manage all executive communications including the dean's remarks for conferences, symposia, awards, graduations, and other special events as needed.
Social Media Management
  • Develop and create a variety of high-quality, original, and engaging content for various platforms, such as websites, social media, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.
  • Assist Chief Marketing Officer in implementing California Western's communications strategy by researching, drafting, and revising print and digital pieces.
  • Oversee all admissions marketing content including email copy, and viewbooks.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to write and produce needed collateral marketing materials.
  • Partner with Advancement on all writing needs including the impact report, alumni newsletters, fundraising appeals, and stewardship communications, as well as grant proposals.
  • Create clear and compelling copy for a variety of audiences, while ensuring adherence to the brand message.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for search engines and follows best content creation and distribution practices.
  • Maintain a consistent tone, voice, and style across all content, adhering to institutional guidelines.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure it is error-free, grammatically correct, and meets quality standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices to ensure content remains relevant and impactful.
Research
  • Conduct extensive research to gather information and create informative and educational content that meets the needs and interests of target audiences.
  • Research and write institutional and decanal emails on important holidays and events such as MLK Jr. Day, Cesar Chavez Day, and Pride Month
  • Research and draft briefs for the dean on important industry trends including rankings, financial aid, career development, and programmatic developments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to research, synthesize and/or draft policies and proposals, including new academic programs.
  • Participate in department meetings and other committees, groups, and task forces as assigned.
  • Work with appropriate level of assistance, instruction and supervision.
  • Proactively advise the CMO of project status, potential issues, and overall project progress.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably media, communication, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Three (3) years' of progressive experience in high pace deadline driven content creation role (with a focus on writing), required.
  • Three (3) years' experience monitoring KPIs for all marketing activities and proven track record improving optimization.
  • An Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Must be able to effectively multitask and handle a variety of matters independently, with minimal supervision, in a professional, polished, and mature manner with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate judgment.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annual Salary

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for this role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The higher end of the range will be considered for well qualified candidates. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the law school reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the law school anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity and budget.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Content Specialist plays a critical role in shaping Brendan Vacations' brand voice across all channels and audiences. This role is responsible for creating, editing and managing content for both B2B and B2C audiences, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and business objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Copywriting & Content Creation

  • Write and edit compelling content tailored for B2B and B2C audiences across multiple channels, including email, social, blog, web and print.
  • Curate visual content from asset libraries including images that support the copy written for various projects.
  • Develop content for collateral that supports trade efforts, including training tools, presentations, reference guides and ad-hoc marketing requests.
  • Proofread content and collateral for accuracy, including grammar, spelling, product details and conditions.
Calendar & Project Coordination

Responsibilities

You'll split your time between writing content that drives awareness and lead generation, and crafting clear, helpful messaging for our customers. Whether it's a pricing change, a new feature launch, or an unexpected service issue, you'll make sure customers across the U.S. and Canada get the right information, when and how they need it. You'll also create blog posts, social content, and marketing materials that help grow the brand and keep our audience engaged. You're someone who loves digging into complex topics, asking the right questions, and turning the answers into clear, helpful content. When something's unclear or missing, you don't wait to be asked; you take the lead, whether that's writing a better explainer, reaching out to a subject matter expert to help you fill in the gaps, or creating a process that saves everyone time. It's a mix of clarity, creativity, and customer impact, and you're all about it. Key responsibilities Customer messaging + Write clear, timely messaging for pricing changes, service updates, product rollouts, and platform enhancements + Own customer-facing updates across the U.S. and Canadian markets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with internal teams + Lead content development for urgent or time-sensitive issues like outages, disruptions, or unexpected service changes + Collaborate with Product, Legal, and CX to ensure messaging is compliant, approved, and customer-friendly + Translate technical input into easy-to-understand language that builds trust and reduces confusion + Develop supporting materials such as FAQs, in-platform alerts, email notifications, and more + Proactively identify and address messaging gaps or customer confusion, offering solutions like new explainers or process guides + Create sales enablement resources (e.g., talking points, scripts, and FAQs) to help CX and sales teams deliver consistent, confident messaging to customers Content writing + Write engaging, on-brand content that supports lead generation, brand awareness, and customer education + Create blog posts, email content, and social media copy that aligns with campaign goals and product priorities + Collaborate with marketing and product teams to translate complex topics into content that resonates with target audiences + Partner with social team to support content planning, publishing, and performance tracking + Maintain a consistent voice and tone across all channels, adapting as needed for audience, region, and platform + Develop marketing materials for trade shows and events, including booth signage, one-pagers, and post-show follow-up content + Jump in to support content needs across the org, whether it's a quick FAQ, a last-minute slide, or help wording a tricky message What you'll bring + Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field + 3-5 years of experience in content writing, technical writing, customer marketing, or customer-facing messaging roles + Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging content + A collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills; you work well with teammates and across departments to keep projects moving forward + Experience creating content across multiple formats: emails, blogs, social posts, FAQs, etc. + Familiarity with B2B or service-based industries; experience in regulated environments (e.g., fintech, healthcare) is a plus + A proactive, systems-oriented mindset; you notice when something's unclear and step in to fix it + A strong sense of empathy and understanding of the customer journey + Solid understanding of content's role in driving awareness, retention, and brand trust + Excellent organization and project management skills; able to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines without dropping the ball What's Next?
