**Materials Science Engineer**
The Material Science Engineer is a high-energy and experienced Material Scientist, with hands-on, practical experience. **What you'll be doing as a Materials Science Engineer:**
* Develop and execute trial plans.

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
The role will primarily focus on supporting efforts to identify appropriate materials of construction for new chemical manufacturing processes and failure analysis of existing equipment and piping. This includes assisting with literature searches on existing material applications, setting up corrosion coupons and analyzing results in the lab, and making materials of construction recommendations based on testing results and available economic data. Materials tested include metallics, thermoplastics and elastomers, with particular emphasis on ferrous materials and nickel alloys. Conducting failure analysis in the lab is another key part of this role, along with helping to develop Mechanical Integrityprograms for existing manufacturing processes. In doing so it is essential to work together across teams and manufacturing sites. Travel activities are required for field investigations.

The technical specialist is the SME for customer and regulatory audits and articulates the Fujifilm Biotechnologies procedures, practices and rationale.

**What You'll Do**
- Provides oversight and supports the team with the introduction of new raw materials, and associated document requirements
- Ensures regulatory compliance, assesses vendor change notifications, and provides strategic input on raw materials related matters
- Oversees and supports change requests for introduction, modification, and discontinuation of raw materials
- Acts as a scientific liaison between Quality Control (QC), Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to assess material and supplier risks (e.g., supplier technical evaluations, risk assessments, raw material evaluation and qualification, and new product introductions)

The Plutonium Supply and Disposition (PSD-1) group at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking outstanding candidates for a joint position with Finishing Manufacturing Science (Sigma 2) and/or Physical and Applied Spectroscopy (C-PCS) for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. Postdoctoral researchers will be working with a group of collaborators including Bonnie Klamm, Nickolas Anderson, Ryan Wilkerson, and Benjamin Stein.
The successful candidate will study material properties in molten salt environments for application in actinide separations, and will join a team of chemists, material scientists, and engineers to advance work that will support LANL's production goals. An ideal candidate will have a background in material science, materials engineering, or chemistry, and a strong technical skillset in material characterization, corrosion analysis, and molten salt chemistry.
The candidate is expected to be self-motivated for success and demonstrate a desire to perform at a high-level in their chosen field. It is further expected that the successful candidate will present their work at national/international conferences and will publish their results both internally at LANL and in appropriate refereed journals. This position requires a Q-clearance, which often requires United States citizenship.
