POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or in the process of completing a degree (High School Math Education preferred); If degree obtained or expected is not specifically in Secondary Math Education, and the applicant is interested in working with students in Pre-Algebra or above, the applicant will have to complete a math competency exam.
Available to tutor weeknights and/or Saturdays.
If interested in tutoring elementary math, the applicant must attend a three-hour Brainspring workshop.

+ Work in small group sessions with students during school. These sessions are in-person.

**Specific information about the Kelly® Education tutoring program in Bridgeton, NJ.**
+ Provide **in-person** math tutoring sessions for grade levels K-8
+ Work in small groups throughout the school day (in-class and pull out)
+ Must be available Monday - Friday, approximately 8:15am - 3pm (schedules vary slightly by school)
+ Tutors will receive direct guidance from the teachers of record in the classes.
+ Each tutor will work with multiple groups per day in both push in and pull out sessions at the direction of the classroom teacher

The Job:
SmartStart Education seeks a small group Math tutor to work with small groups of middle school students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays . Each small group consists of 1-4 students. Each group consists of students who have been identified as students who are struggling with fundamental Math skills. Students are from all grade levels, including 6th through 8th .
The tutor will work with each group several times throughout the week at a middle school in Brooklyn, NY . Groups will take place within the classroom (push-in services) or outside of the classroom (pull-out services). Tutors should be flexible and comfortable with both settings. Each tutor will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal device (mobile phone).
Job Details:
The tutoring position begins promptly on October 28, 2025 and ends on June 10, 2026. The schedule will be 8:00am through 2:20pm. BookNook is seeking passionate educators to join our tutoring community as independent contractors, working up to 30 hours per week. BookNook tutors are on the front lines of working to close the opportunity gap for K-8 students during a key period of their educational journey.
Our online tutors conduct live, synchronous online tutoring sessions using the BookNook platform and video conferencing software. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct, positive impact on students on their path to achieving success in Math.
BookNook tutors must reside in and work from the United States and have a US mailing address. We are unable to engage with tutors who reside in the following states : California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont, as well as US territories.
Position Specifics:- Subject: K–8th grade math
- Curriculum : Lessons for math sessions include inquiry-based instruction, with a strong focus on explicit instruction. Curriculum and content will be provided within the platform.
- Position Type: 1099-eligible independent contractor
- Timeline: Programming typically runs during the school year, with the busiest months from September-May
- Pay Rate: $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session)
