Sylvan of Mineola is looking for a dedicated Middle/High School Mathematic teacher to work with our students primarily in grades 7-12. Candidates must have a strong competency in HS Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry. We are looking for passionate educators who truly want to inspire a love of learning in those they teach and who work hard to ensure that students are engaged and excited to learn!
Experience with helping students prepare for the Math section of the SAT is a bonus but we are willing to train the right candidate. Please let us know if you have a background in any of the sciences as well (Biology, Physics or Chemistry).
Sylvan Tutors:
Greet students and initiate instruction to personally engage each student
Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
Manage students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their assignments
Use praise and positive reinforcement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
Communicate specific student needs to Center staff
Flexible hours are available and there is not any prep work that needs to be done at home! Tutors do not need to meet with parents, develop lesson plans, or collect payments from parents.
Sylvan is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7 and on Saturdays from 9-1. We are looking for someone who is able to work at least 2 days a week.
