Salary: $40,000 / yr +
The Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive and engaging math curriculum, providing individualized instruction, and inspiring a love for mathematics among students. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for mathematics and a deep commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for high school students.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and deliver effective math instruction, aligning with current educational standards, to meet the diverse needs of high school students.
- Employ various teaching strategies to engage students and promote a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Develop and administer assessments to gauge student progress, provide constructive feedback, and track academic progress.
- Identify students strengths and weaknesses in math, and provide additional support or differentiated instruction to help each student reach their full potential.
- Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages active participation, fosters critical thinking, and ensures student safety.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, including reporting on student progress and addressing concerns.
- Stay current with the latest educational trends, methodologies, and teaching techniques to continuously improve your teaching skills.
- Actively participate in or lead extracurricular math-related activities, such as math clubs, competitions, or tutoring.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the math department and other educators to share best practices and contribute to a cohesive educational environment.
- Understand your responsibility to perform other job duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Technological proficiency for integrating technology into lessons.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Committed to working with under-served students.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure.
- Previous teaching experience, especially at the high school level, is a plus.
