Job Duties:

The Department of Medicine at The University of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) is recruiting an exceptional medical oncologist in health services research to join our faculty in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. We seek candidates for this position in sub-specialties such as central nervous system, genitourinary or gastrointestinal tumors or sarcomas. The academic physician will be expected to engage in active collaborative research and build clinical and/or translational research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding.
  • This position is full or part time, 80%-100%
  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Provide inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Health locations in Madison and at additional sites in the region. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as clinical research endeavors. Responsibilities of the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track candidate will include:
  • 60-65% direct patient care at UW Health approved locations, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending.
  • 35-40% academic time for research activities and/or for educational and other scholarly activities, which includes pro-actively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants.
Opportunities exist for pursuit of clinical research in candidate's area/s of interest. The candidate will lead dedicated disease-specific research staff and have access to substantial programmatic research funds.

School of Medicine and Public Health / Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care

The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at UW-Madison includes more than 60 faculty, over 40 Advanced Practice Providers, and 19 Fellows. The division's faculty leads cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research programs. This research encompasses cancer biology, cancer prevention, screening and treatment, as well as survivorship and palliative care for patients impacted by solid tumors, benign and malignant hematologic conditions and those requiring stem cell transplant or cellular therapies.

Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Office. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our two UWCCC clinical sites. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure independent funding to continue/develop their research.

The candidate will have also access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including e-Consults, committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.

Required Qualifications:
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Hematology/Medical Oncology or Medical Oncology from an accredited fellowship training program is required by the appointment start date.
  • American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Certification required.
  • Candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
  • For an appointment as Associate Professor or Professor rank on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track.
  • Clinical and research responsibilities with interest in breast medical oncology.
  • Experience in clinical trials or translational research, with a track record of successful publications in peer-reviewed journals, extramural funding, strong written and verbal communication skills, evidence of excellence in teaching and high potential to obtain extramural funding. Through these efforts, the ability to enhance national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

MD, DO, or equivalent is required

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of health care services within the De Anza Student Health Services. Class Characteristics

This is a journey-level class responsible for performing clinical support services. Work requires strong communications skills and knowledge of health office processes and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Work usually fits an established structure or pattern and is in accordance with standing Physician orders or directives. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained as they arise. Eventually, positions will attain a level of experience to receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and where they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Examples of Typical Functions (Illustrative Only)

  1. Provides first aid to injured or ill students and staff; performs routine health service and medical procedures; prepares exam rooms for use; and escorts patients to appropriate treatment rooms or areas.

  10. Answers telephones and maintains appointment scheduling system for Health Office staff; schedules meetings and classes as assigned.
  11. Prepares requisitions for checks, student accounts, open purchase orders, and printing services; resolves related issues as necessary.
  12. Operates a computer and other office equipment as assigned; operates various medical equipment as required.
  13. Sterilizes instruments, counter tops and other areas according to established standards.
  14. Maintains office inventory and order supplies as needed.
  15. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of: basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and emergency healthcare; medical terminology, procedures, and equipment; immunization compliance policies and procedures; inventory methods and practices; infectious disease control; applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, and District policies and procedures relevant to assigned area of responsibility; methods of preparing and processing various records, reports, forms, and other documents specific to assigned program; record keeping and filing systems and methods; English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation; modern office practices, procedures, technology, and computer equipment and applications, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications; techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, students, and District staff, including individuals of diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation.
  2. Minimum Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Sr. Director.The LPN HSC will provide clerical and office supportin maintaining health care services and insuring that all documentations and medical supply needs of the persons supported are provided.The LPN HSC will work closely with the Contracted Oversight RN. WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE: The position requires current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Kentucky and at least two years of nursing experience preferably working with persons with intellectual and developmentally disabilities or in a home health environment. Must have knowledge of the rules, policies and procedures, and guidelines established by the State of Kentucky for community support programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and be able to complete required DIDD training. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensure that all health related information is entered into practical health record system 2. Maintain all appropriate paper files relative to healthcare 3. Coordinate the scheduling of all medical appointments and follow up. Ensure that all appointments are kept or rescheduled. 4. Follow up on all referrals and recommendations from the health care professionals. 5. Ensure that all person supported records meet DIDD requirements. 6. Review and sign off on all medication variances weekly. 7. Monitor and maintain medication refill request and order supplies as needed. 8. Coordinate AT equipment. Bed, wheelchairs, hoyer lift repairs and ensure AT clinic packet is completed. 9. Filing of all medical documents and encounters in chart daily 10. Ensure that all consents are updated and uploaded to the person supported file 11. Review, Complete and upload all encounters in EHR 12. Thinning charts of all persons supported and storing them according to office procedure 13. Monitor Lab tracking, request copies for file, insure that all ordered labs are completed. 14. Track all annual physicals, dentals and vision exams and ensure they are completed within the DIDD guidelines. 15. Work in the homes at least 16 hours a month or as needed. 16. Be available and on call when the Case Manager is on Vacation or unavailable. 17. Coordinate (as needed) between and among health care professionals, such as Primary Care Physician, CSN Case Mangers, and medical specialist, i.e. (cardiologist, orthopedists, psychiatrist, etc.) to assure the effective flow of information. 18. Performance quality improvement (PQI) duties and reports as assigned by supervision & PQI committee. 19. Any other job duties as assigned by supervision. This position is responsible for observing students, reporting concerns, and performing delegated technical skills and administrative tasks. The Health Services Associate will be responsible for administering first aid, emergency, and episodic care according to the Health Services Standards of Care, district policies, and district procedures.

RATE OF PAY:

The wage for this position varies based on qualifications and experience. Candidates without a Registered Nurse License through the Minnesota Department of Nursing will earn between $20.98 and $0.27 per hour. Candidates with a Registered Nurse License through the Minnesota Board of Nursing will earn between 28.78 and 33.69 per hour. New hires will typically start at the entry-level rate within the applicable wage range, while candidates with relevant experience may be eligible for a starting rate of up to 25.60 per hour (non-RN) or 32.67 per hour (RN). Wage decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, considering the individual's experience and the school district's budget.
