**About this role**
This position is for a seasoned professional Project Manager in Commercial Mechanical Installation, who works independently, interacting with customers, supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets for projects, oversee subcontractors, facilitates project tasks with various functional organizations, forecast project revenues, tracks progress and costs, identifies project problems, and recommends resolutions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ The Project Manager is responsible for managing the installation of commercial HVAC equipment within various vertical markets, positively representing the company in all client and architect/engineer interactions
+ Work with end-users, sales staff, and prime contractors to ensure a clear understanding of project scope and deliverables
+ The Project Manager helps oversee and communicate project progression from inception to completion, including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation
+ Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets. Conducts Work in Progress meetings
+ Expected to develop working knowledge with Building Automation Systems (BAS) systems; Carrier i-Vu knowledge is a plus
+ Understands and follows all published codes, standards, and unique project specifications
+ Conveys a sense of professionalism, fairness, and concern for customers, labor, and management
+ Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
+ Accurately forecast revenue each month as well as track costs by reviewing each project to estimate the value of work completed each month correctly
+ Execute all major functions required for project management, including project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring, and project close-out
+ Manage the Change Order process, assuring that scope creep does not occur
+ Assure that all projects will be managed to or exceed the percentage of booked project margin
+ Assure that job safety is priority on every project
**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ 3+ years project management in commercial mechanical installation
+ 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Building automation or electrical installation or construction field
+ Must be able to read blueprints, structural drawings and understand complex building architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents
+ Experience and/or certification in BACnet; or LEED certification
+ PMP certification or working towards PMP Certification
+ Associates Degree in engineering or project management
+ Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead and deliver facilities engineering and design projects across a diverse range of sectors including educational, public works, water/wastewater, transportation, transit, government, and aviation .

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mechanical and plumbing systems (HVAC, hydronic distribution, domestic/sanitary piping, central thermal plants, fire protection, DX refrigeration, and industrial duct design). This role requires both strong technical design knowledge and proven project management ability to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee mechanical engineering projects, including planning, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and reporting.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, HVAC load studies, energy modeling, and code compliance checks.
  • Oversee the development of drawings and specifications for bidding and construction.
  • Provide quality control for mechanical and plumbing design deliverables.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers, ensuring training and professional development.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, code officials, and permitting offices to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as project manager on multiple mechanically driven facility projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Develop project management plans, budgets, pricing strategies, and schedules.
  • Manage client presentations, stakeholder communication, and marketing efforts.
  • Lead internal mechanical team members, multidisciplinary teams, and external subconsultants.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposals and contract negotiations.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience .
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License, or EIT with ability to obtain PE within 612 months.
  • Strong background in designing and specifying HVAC and plumbing systems of various sizes and complexities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and building load simulation tools (IESVE, Carrier HAP preferred).
  • Strong understanding of building, energy, and mechanical/plumbing codes.
