**Job Description Summary**
As a Medical Assistant, you will be a part of the Clinical Care Team engaging with our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. The Medical Assistant role makes a difference in the patient care we offer and assists physicians and other clinicians by providing a unique blend of skills and knowledge to carry out prescribed medical treatment. **Medical Assistant Role Overview:**
+ Prepare patients for examinations, including taking vitals
+ Recording & updating patient medical histories in electronic medical records software
+ Performing routine tests and/or screenings such as mammograms, colorectal screening, and EKGs
+ Preparing and administering medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections-including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider
+ Counseling patients on medication and special diets
+ Wound care and changing dressings
+ Sterilizing and cleaning equipment and ensuring maintenance of examination rooms
+ Collaborates closely with physicians and nurses to ensure top level patient care.
+ Highly accurate in collecting phlebotomy samples from senior-aged patients

**Required Qualifications**
- Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR Certified
- Phlebotomy experience
- This role is considered patient facing and is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Certified or Registered - (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina candidates require Medical Assistant Certification or Registration)
- Experience in a cardiology environment
-Medication/vaccine administration experience
Previous experience in a cardiology setting
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication
- 1+ years MA experience
- Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.

Emory Healthcare is seeking a capable **Medical Assistant Proceduralist / MA** who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population.
+ Assist with office based procedures following aseptic technique, hand off instruments, assist with obtaining, labeling and sending specimens, perform low and high level disinfection procedures, perform POC testing, enter orders into computer.

The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Measures and records patient vital signs; records patient interview and medical history.
+ Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
+ Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patient.
+ Observes patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
+ Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens; performs basic waived lab tests.
+ Prepares and administers medications; changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
+ Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
+ Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
+ Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
+ Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weekly calls.
+ Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
+ High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
+ Graduation from a nationally accredited Program in one of the following is required: Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician Program, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
+ A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT or Paramedic required
+ BLS for Healthcare Providers required
+ Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus

The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative duties in addition to patient care. The Medical Assistant performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. Typically works on semi-routine assignments.

Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.
