Job Description:Key Accountabilities:
1. Receives and executes orders from the overseeing, delegating, or supervising physician or advanced practice clinician.
2. Rooms the patient, obtains and documents vital signs and pertinent health information, validates medication reconciliation completion, and prepares patient for examination. Provides documentation support for complex documentation in electronic health record during provider visit.
3. Assists in meeting the care needs of the patient in collaboration with the care team to ensure quality, cost-effective and safe patient care practices.
4. Addresses situations or decisions to ensure patient concerns and needs are met.
5. Reinforces patient education to improve care outcomes and safe patient practices.
6. Assists the provider/RN in performing and documenting tests and procedures.
7. Assists in discharging the patient at the completion of the office visit reinforcing the after visit summary. Aids in the completion of medication, laboratory, and radiology orders as needed.
8. Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers. Participates in patient panel management. Works with care team members to monitor patients who would benefit from recommended health screening, preventative services, and established chronic disease tracking interventions.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification or registration through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Healthcare Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or a valid State of Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurse license. Some departments may require additional certifications.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
Physical Demands:

You will be helping our patients live well by:
- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e., chief complaint, allergies, and/or medications). Monitors and completes Clinical Integration/ Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinician for opportunities within their scope.
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e., strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions/infection control guidelines.
- Assists the Physician/ Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers routine medications, under Physician/ APC orders or medical group approved standing orders/protocols, which may include but are not limited to immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to Registered Nurses and Physician/APC per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with Physician/APC and other members of the health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjusts as necessary. Effectively communicates accurate and timely information with the patient.
- May perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks or skills based on the specialty and appropriate competencies such as but not limited to removal of sutures and staples, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen), phlebotomy - butterfly, venous heel stick, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, prescription refills using approved protocols, etc., under clinical supervision.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licenses & Certifications:
LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Active License issued by the state in which the team member practices, and

**Responsibilities**
Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).
+ Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
+ Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
+ Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
+ Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
+ May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
+ One or more of the following required:
+ Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date OR job transfer date. Registered Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Registry of Medical Assistants also accepted.

Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:
- Receives and executes orders from the overseeing, delegating, or supervising physician or advanced practice clinician.
- Rooms the patient, obtains and documents vital signs and pertinent health information, validates medication reconciliation completion, and prepares patient for examination. Provides documentation support for complex documentation in electronic health record during provider visit.
- Assists in meeting the care needs of the patient in collaboration with the care team to ensure quality, cost-effective and safe patient care practices.
- Addresses situations or decisions to ensure patient concerns and needs are met.
- Reinforces patient education to improve care outcomes and safe patient practices.
- Assists the provider/RN in performing and documenting tests and procedures.
