- Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weekly calls.

As a Medical Assistant, you will be a part of the Clinical Care Team engaging with our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. The Medical Assistant role makes a difference in the patient care we offer and assists physicians and other clinicians by providing a unique blend of skills and knowledge to carry out prescribed medical treatment. Medical Assistants are multiskilled health professionals responsible for performing administrative and clinical tasks in our primary care facilities while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining positive patient engagement.
Job Functions
- Perform pre-visit planning based on patient visit type
- Manage the providers schedule to ensure efficient workflow
- Obtain and record medical history and vital signs
- Room patients and healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments
- Perform specimen collection and point of care testing
- Prepare and administer medications under the direction of healthcare providers
- Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including documentation of HEDIS and Stars quality measures
- Maintain established quality control standards.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from a Medical Assisting program
- Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish proficiency
- An active Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or Registered Medical Assistant/RMA certification from one of the following organizations:
- 1) American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- 2) Allied American Health (AAH)
- 3) American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- 4) American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) * Foreign Medical and Nurses
- 5) National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
- 6) National Association of Healthcare Technicians (NAHT)
- 7) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- 8) National Health career Association (NHA)
- 9) Medical Career Assessments (MedCA)
- 1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience in 'back-office' direct patient care
- Experience with HEDIS and ICD/CPT coding
- Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Experience in a fast paced/high volume environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Verify patient demographic and clinical information.
- Uphold HIPAA requirements for patient confidentiality.
- Uphold medical record documentation guidelines.
- Uphold OSHA regulations to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Conduct pre-visit planning 48 hours in advance of patient visits.
- Conduct patient triage in a safe and confidential environment and confirm accurate vital signs.
- Report abnormal vital signs timely to the rendering provider.
- Conduct medication reconciliation in all patient visits.
- Keep patient exam rooms clean and ensure patient safety for each patient visit.
- Provide support and assistance as needed to primary care providers and specialists.
- Ensure that there is an adequate inventory of medications and supplies at the assigned medical center.
- Conduct monthly inventory of medications and discard expired medications following appropriate guidelines.
- Follow CDC guidelines as it relates to the safe storage of vaccines and the safe transfer of vaccines during power outages.
- Monitor refrigerator temperature excursions where vaccines are stored.
- Support all quality initiatives to ensure that HEDIS gaps are met.
- Support PCPs and care managers with High-Risk patients.
- Support PCPs and Specialists with patient education to ensure clear understanding of plans of care.
- Assist PCP/Specialists in the review of all patients that did not come for their established appointment to ensure a safe and timely rescheduling of the appointment. Additionally, maintain clear communication with the associates responsible for scheduling.
- Uphold medical center hours of operations.
- Attend all required meetings.
- Perform phlebotomy if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Medical Assistant certification or having attended an accredited Medical Assistant school.
- It is required to maintain an active and updated BLS certification.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
