Medical Assistant performs certain administrative and clinical duties under the direction of Community Health Net's Medical Services Coordinator. Administrative duties may include registration, discharge, scheduling, faxing, and answering phones, as needed. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and assist Medical Providers as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or other health information in Community Health Net's Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assess physical conditions of patients to aid diagnosis or treatment.
- Administers injections, immunizations, and associated quality controls as directed by Community Health Net Medical Provider.
- Performs testing procedures such as but not limited to; patient urine dipstick, rapid strep, fecal occult blood test, and urine pregnancy test.
- Immediately report abnormal testing procedure results to appropriate medical personnel.
- Assist Nurses and Medical Providers with medical procedures as needed.
- Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with clinical standards.
- Prepare, sterilize, and clean patient treatment rooms for use.
- Report all patient/safety concerns and near misses in event reporting, printing and notifying supervisor at time of report.
- Support medical office duties of registration, discharge, scheduling, faxing, and answering phones, as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- GED or high school diploma required.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- Ability to use computers and Windows based software to enter data and develop reports as needed.
- Must be responsible, precise, and organized.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays based upon operational need.

+ Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.

+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms and assist with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
