**Responsibilities:**
+ Coordinate daily schedules and patient flow.
+ Accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms and assist with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.

+ Follow scheduled maintenance programs for cleaning and maintain accurate records.
+ Manage supply inventory and restock exam and procedure rooms as needed.
+ Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) and all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
+ Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
+ Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, level one labs, and clinic procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
+ Assist physicians with clinical procedures to support patient care.
+ Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
+ Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education, as directed.
+ Obtain lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and complete necessary forms and requisitions.
+ Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up as needed.
+ Verify insurance coverage and confirm patient demographics for accuracy.
+ Prepare and manage patient charts to ensure all information is complete, up-to-date, and properly filed.
+ Perform other front office responsibilities as required.
+ Administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Required:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
+ Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Other front office responsibilities, as required.
+ Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**

+ CPR - American Heart Association
+ Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
+ Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
+ Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Certification Requirements:
+ Employees who have: graduated from a medical assistant program within five years **OR** proof of one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire and must obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
+ Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
