As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. **A caregiver in this position works 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-6:00PM. Additionally, there is a monthly Saturday rotation.**

**ESSENTIAL JOB** **DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Measures and records patient vital signs; records patient interview and medical history.
+ Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
+ Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patient.
+ Observes patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
+ Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens; performs basic waived lab tests.
+ Prepares and administers medications; changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
+ Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
+ Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
+ Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
+ Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weekly calls.
+ Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

Job Description
Endocrine conditions are often complex and involve many systems within the body. Our endocrinologists are experts at diagnosing and treating a number of diseases and disorders, ranging from diabetes to thyroid disorders and cancers.
**Caregivers in this role will cover 7:00am to 8:00pm and may rotate weekends.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests, and documenting patient care.
+ Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
+ Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas.
+ Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate from an approved medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).
+ Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Medical Assisting certification.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.
+ Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.

+ Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
+ May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
+ Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
+ Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
+ Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
+ Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
