Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation : Assist with preparing patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring they are comfortable and well-informed.
- Triage & Vital Signs : Perform triage and take vital signs accurately.
- Documenting Patient History : Obtain and document detailed patient history in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in a timely manner.
- Lab Specimens : Collect routine laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and oral swabs.
- Medication & Injections : Administer medications and non-intravenous injections, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
- Clinical Procedures : Start IVs, place catheters, and perform splinting when necessary.
- Clinical & Laboratory Procedures : Perform basic clinical, aseptic, and laboratory procedures to support patient care.
- Occupational Medicine : Assist with our Occupational Medicine services, including drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and pulmonary function testing, while adhering to company protocols.
- Compliance : Enforce and maintain healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
- Administrative Duties : Perform office procedures and general administrative tasks; proficiently operate office medical equipment.
- Quality Assurance : Oversee compliance with quality assurance programs, CLIA waived laboratory requirements, and patient result trackers.
- Travel Requirement: Support staffing and operational needs by traveling to other Beaumont Urgent Care locations as required.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (must meet one of the following):
Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution (diploma or certificate), OR
Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), OR
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an urgent care or ER/hospital setting
Clinical Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and general clinical procedures
Technical Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR); EPIC preferred
Flexibility: Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays

Classification FSLA - Non Exempt – hourly

Level of experience, longevity, certification, within company pay structure $20-$25/hour
Reports to Physician(s) as assigned and Medical Assistant Manager
Summary/Objective
Support the provider’s and patient’s basic medical needs in preparation for examination as well as managing non-clinical tasks such as completion of forms and authorizations.
Work Environment
This job operates in a medical office facility. This role routinely uses standard medical equipment, office equipment such as computers, phones, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, scales, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. We are a large team and prioritize supporting one another to provide the best care possible for our patients.

Essential Functions
Review physician schedule to maximize the benefit of the appointment. This includes obtaining outside medical records and test results prior to the appointment.
Communicate effectively with providers to facilitate optimal patient care.
Perform necessary intake for exams including obtaining vitals, reviewing and updating health history, medications, allergies, etc.
Maintain HIPAA compliance.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
Utilize insurance portals like Evicore, Carelon and RadMD to submit prior authorization requests for outside testing including MRI, CT, PET, DaT scans, etc.
Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms, keeping the rooms clean and stocked.
Coordinate and schedule all follow up appointments for the patient upon check out.
Work with outside facilities to coordinate external referrals.
Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, faxing and scanning.
Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with patients, providers, and colleagues.
Address tasks, voicemails, emails and faxes efficiently and promptly.
Communicate with internal departments to coordinate testing and treatment.
This position is highly administrative and requires that all paperwork, authorizations and patient communications be addressed promptly.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to lift supplies, bend or stand as necessary, assist patient with walking, standing, or accessing exam table.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Hours may vary depending on the provider’s schedule. Start times range from as early as 6:00 am to 8:00 am . End time is no later than 5:30pm . Schedule flexibility is necessary to accommodate team, provider, and patient needs.
Travel
Potential travel to satellite offices as needed. We have offices in Roseville, Riverview, Dearborn Heights, and Farmington Hills.
Required Education and Experience
Related responsibilities, minimum experience of 1 – 2 years previously held medical assistant position. Certification preferred but not required.
Experience scheduling appointments using EHR systems is essential.
Utilization of insurance portals to complete prior authorizations.
Familiarity with FMLA and Short-Term Disability paperwork is preferred but not required.

You Will:
Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing by analyzing proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame
Assume responsibility of the department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor
Complete all required records/documentation pertaining to patient results
Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results. (Including performing delta checks, etc.)

Position Requirements:
