A. Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required if applicable.

Successfully completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current/valid Medication Aide certification by state agency required if applicable.

May require specialized training such as Non-Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT).

Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire.

B. Experience (required and preferred):

2 years Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.

Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.

Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.

May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.

May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG's.

Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.

Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.

Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.

Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.

Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).

Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.

Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.

Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, MA Lead or as requested by healthcare provider(s)

Position Overview

The role of the Research Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative and clinical tasks to support the study site. The Research Assistant supports all study related activities to ensure that the study is completed accurately per study protocol. The Research Assistant is an integral role to assist with the flow of the clinic.

The Research Assistant reports to the Site Manager/Team Lead.

Classification: Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

• Effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain a strong emphasis on compliance responsibilities, including timely identification and reporting of protocol deviations, serious adverse events (SAEs), and adherence to regulatory and site-specific requirements.
• Monitor & Report Adverse Events – Recognize and promptly report AEs, protocol deviations, and safety concerns to the clinical team. Document AEs and Serious Adverse Event reporting in compliance with FDA, IRB, and sponsor requirements, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
• Ensure Compliance with Study Protocols & Regulatory Guidelines – Adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and site SOPs when conducting study-related activities.
• Assist in Subject Retention Efforts – Support ongoing engagement, communication, and compliance to enhance subject retention throughout the study.
• Perform Inventory Management – Track and manage study supplies, lab kits, and investigational products (if applicable) to ensure readiness for study visits.
• Assist in maintaining accurate, timely, and audit-ready documentation of all study-related activities.
• Perform Laboratory Responsibilities with Accuracy – Ensure proper labeling, handling, storage and shipment of specimens per protocol and regulatory requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving study requirements.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high levels of accuracy.
• Establish and maintain patient rapport during clinical drug trials to include management of subjects

• Receive IP and verify receipt as directed, including temperature stability.
• Ensure IP is stored according to protocol specifications.
• Ensure temperature is monitored and that temperature excursions are reported as needed.
• Ensure there is sufficient supply of IP and order more as needed.
• Inventory IP for expiration dates.
• Maintain accountability and dispensing logs.
• Administer study drug
• IP reconciliation.
• Return or destroy IP
• Filing study documents in the subject’s chart.
• Develop rapport with study sponsors, monitors, study participants, etc.
• Assist monitors during onsite visits
• Maintain accurate enrollment/ICF logs

At Mahaska Health, the LP - Medical Supply Nurse is responsible for daily clinical services at Mahaska Health Sleep and Medical Supplies. Performs patient equipment and supply set-ups and fittings. Responsible for follow-up with patients to establish compliance with usage for reimbursement. Ability to review and troubleshoot devices for patient usage.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provides for the safe delivery, set-up, use, and processing of equipment for Mahaska Health Sleep and Medical Supplies.
• Provides patient education on the prescribed therapy and equipment use and maintenance.
• Performs therapy management, and follows up with the patient to ensure quality and satisfaction.

• Reads and follows SDS sheets and handles hazardous materials following SDS.

Job Requirements:

• Current license to practice Respiratory Care in the State of Iowa OR

We are seeking a compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our Family Medicine team in Iowa. This position is open to Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), Certified Medical Assistants (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), or Registered Nurses (RN). The Clinical Nurse will provide support in patient care across all ages, assisting with exams, treatments, and patient education in a primary care setting.

• Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures

• Room payients, record patient histories, vital signs, and document in the electronic health record (EHR)

Qualifications
