The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. • Measures and records patient vital signs; records patient interview and medical history.
• Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patient.
• Observes patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
• Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens; performs basic waived lab tests.
• Prepares and administers medications; changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
• Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
• Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. • Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weekly calls.

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Seeking a Medical Assistant for our practice who provides clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. What will do in this role:

• You will prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs
• You will prepare exam and treatment rooms with the necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
• You will give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy
• You will assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
• You will answer telephone calls to the practice and screen for referral

What Qualifications you will need:

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program OR twelve months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting OR current Medical Assistant certification
• Candidates with one year of Medical work experience who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification must obtain Certification within one year of hire date
• Medical Assistants who recently graduated from a Medical Assisting training program will obtain a clinical MA certification within60 days of employment
• Active and unrevoked RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification/ABR-OE credentials is highly preferred

• Certified Medical Assistant, or NHA Cert Clinical Medical Assistant, or NAHP Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or AMT Registered Medical Assistant, or ABR-OE Assess Based Rec in Order Entry must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
