Nextaff has an immediate need for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our client's team in Sarasota, FL. As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for a variety of care and administrative duties including assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Duties include rooming patients, documenting medical histories, measuring vital signs, administering injections, preparing & maintaining treatment rooms, entering patient data into the EMR system and assisting in front desk coverage.in other words, you will be a critical touchpoint for patients! This is a full-time contract-to-hire position with Nextaff with a Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM schedule, which will allow you to earn a permanent position with our client.
$20-$22 per hour, based on your experience as a Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Prepares patients during office visits and assists patients and family members before, during and after a doctor's visit.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
- Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment. To be eligible to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge OR obtain a letter of attestation from a currently licensed physician stating that you've worked as a Medical Assistant for at least one year within the last three years.
- Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women's Care training.
- Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
- Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
- Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
- Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. The Care Promoter 1 is an integral member of a Physician-lead Care Team that is focused on providing excellent and comprehensive primary care for a specific population of patients.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:- Measures and records patient vital signs; records patient interview and medical history.
- Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
- Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patient.
- Observes patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
- Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens; performs basic waived lab tests.
- Prepares and administers medications; changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
- Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
- Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
- Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weekly calls.
- Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.
