Job Summary: The medical records clerk organizes and evaluates patients' health information and records. In addition, they perform a variety of record keeping and clerical duties in support of services provided in medical setting.
Responsibilities:
Generate and prepare/assemble medical records. Organize and evaluate medical records for completeness and accuracy. Pull and route records to appropriate personnel or department. Pull charts as needed for special audits and peer review. Prepare reports and forms as directed and in accordance with established policies. Maintain and search computerized medical records. Position Responsibilities:We are seeking a versatile and dedicated Medical Records professional to provide excellent patient care and support. In this role, you will scan all medical documents and insert the scanned documents into the appropriate patient medical records. Working all faxes and ensuring that all incoming faxes are distributed to the appropriate person or department. Preparing conference books for Physician legal appointments. Processing records requests and FMLA/Disability forms. Assisting Work Comp insurance Specialists as needed. Answering Medical Records-related phone calls. Filling in for the Switchboard Operator as needed. ORA holds all our staff members accountable for providing high-level care, maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations. Requirements:This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous medical records experience in a medical office is preferred. A successful candidate will have familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills as well as the ability to work well within a team and collaborate with medical professionals, are requirements of this role.

- Maintain the Destruction Log for closed records.

Summary
The medical records technician is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of the patients' medical records and the incorporation of clinical documents into those records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes and maintains medical records of clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Breaks down discharged patients' records to upload them properly into EHR.
- Properly uploads past medical records.
- Logs in and out physician orders.

- Maintains documents in locked cabinets/room to assure confidentiality of patient information.
- Monitors check in and check out of patient charts by corresponding professional staff.
- Processes subpoenas and other legal requests.
- Ensures that all HIPAA standards are in compliance.

- Education/Experience:
- Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting preferred.
