The Medical Device Technician is responsible for building precision medical products according to plans, schematics, and operating manuals. Key to this role is testing and troubleshooting instruments and components and ensuring adherence to quality standards.


Responsibilities will include:

  1. Interpret mechanical assembly drawings and written instructions to assemble, calibrate, align, operate, and maintain diagnostic medical device instruments.
  2. Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electro-mechanical devices.
  3. Perform setup, calibration, and testing on manufactured devices.
  4. Clean, troubleshoot, and repair devices to component level.
  5. Test electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies according to acceptance test procedures and specifications.
  6. Resolve problems or failures with equipment, devices, and products.
  7. Report problems with processes, equipment, or materials to management.
  8. Operate and maintain equipment and machinery used in manufacturing processes.
  9. Work closely with engineering on beta tests of new products and upgrades to existing products.
  10. Participate in deviation investigations, audits, and inspections.

Job requirements and skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Vocational & Trade School Program degree and/or technical training preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience, with demonstrated success working with increasingly complex instruments and devices.
  • Proven ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to sit / stand for long periods of time.
  • Good communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in both a team environment and independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.




The hourly pay rate range for this position is $23-27/hour (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location). Medical Device Technician - Job Description

Job Purpose

The MDT is responsible for providing support for Respiratory Therapist services including delivering, setting up, and maintaining specialized respiratory products and other equipment for patients in their home.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Massachusetts patients with CPAP, BIPAP, and other sleep equipment for sleep apnea related diagnoses. Equipment includes:
    • Luna G3 APAP and ResMed APAP
    • Luna 3B BPAP and ResMed BPAP
    • Mask fitting
    • Oxygen concentrators and regulatorss
  • Provide telehealth instruction to Massachusetts patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of certain equipment and/or respiratory care procedures-escalating to a Respiratory Therapist as appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient and other members of the health care team as required.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services and other trainings as scheduled.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions regarding respiratory patient care.
  • Keep all financial and patient information confidential, in accordance with company mandate and HIPAA security standards.
  • Coordinate with the Customer Success team on scheduling patient visits and equipment set-up.
  • Develop good working relationships with the patients and their families.
  • Follow proper company policies and procedures and ensure timely documentation.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
  • Under Massachusetts General Law 112 23V (e), complete 500 hours under the direct supervisor of a Massachusetts Licensed Respiratory Therapist. See Chapter 185 for more information.

Basic Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and not require work authorization from us now or in the future.
  • Valid US driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations or at fault accidents within the last 3 years.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and not require work authorization from us now or in the future.
  • 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Experience with respiratory equipment preferred.
  • Efficient skills utilizing a PC/iPad/software for email, documentation, notes etc.

**Vaccine/Immunization/Hospital Credentialing Requirement:** A required function of this job requires individuals to enter various healthcare facilities.  Thus, upon selection, individuals must complete healthcare facility credentialing process.  To obtain credentials, individuals must meet the immunization requirements specified by the facility.  Individuals are typically required to have completed/up to date: Measles, Mumps & Rubella vaccine, Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, Negative Tuberculosis (TB) Test, Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine, Hepatitis B vaccine, Influenza vaccine (seasonal), and COVID-19 vaccine primary series (heavily enforced by most facilities, some require booster(s)).
