**About the Team:**
The highly skilled clinical lab team in South Bend provides a range of services for hospital-based clients including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and molecular testing in a fast-paced environment.
**Internship Assignment Summary:**
+ Assist the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases through troubleshooting specimen related problems, dispatching couriers, receiving patient specimens, and processing microbiology cultures
+ Build skills and knowledge in all areas of the clinical laboratory to gain a better understanding of functions
+ Perform lab assistant and specimen processing dutiesEngage in professional development working with the EHS and Quality committees

**Education/Qualifications/Skills:**

Requirements:
  • M.D. or D.O. with a current, active, U.S. state medical license and board certified in Diagnostic Radiology recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, or American Osteopathic Association
  • Eligible to acquire additional state licensureas required
  • Prefer one of the following state medical licenses but is not required: DC, MD or VA
  • 3 or more years of relevant clinical experience post residency/fellowship required
  • Knowledge of applicable state federal laws
  • Utilization Review Accreditation Commission and National Committee for Quality Assurance standards is a plus
  • Ability to commit to a set, weekly work schedule (Monday through Friday)
  • Strong computer skills: ability to work autonomouslywith automated processes, computer applications, and systems

  • This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures.   • Assists with procedures such as interventional procedures, provides patient education; obtains informed consent as needed. Practices sterile techniques and standard precautions.
  • Follows established quality assurance/quality control program. monitoring the operating condition of the equipment and accessories. Promptly reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
