At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.
Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DCT does not participate in E-Verify.
***Looking for a rewarding career as a Primary Care Physician serving Minnesotans***
Ready to make a difference providing treatment to some of Minnesota's most vulnerable adults? Tired of hours spent in prior authorization calls and inbox messages? Wish you could spend more time treating patients instead of rushing through short appointment slots? Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has an opportunity for a skilled and compassionate primary care physician to provide quality care as part of a multidisciplinary team. As the primary care physician, you will be managing the medical needs of complex patients at our freestanding psychiatric hospital collaboratively with psychiatric practitioners, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals.
As part of the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) administration; Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) division, AMRTC is a 96-bed modern tertiary care teaching hospital, which provides hospital care to adults with mental illness and substance use disorders (often co-occurring), as well as other complex health conditions. AMRTC is the hub of a state psychiatric care network including 7 smaller hospitals and a wide range of community-based resources. Multidisciplinary teams provide care guided by evidence-based practices and a person-centered treatment philosophy.
In this role, you will:
+ Provide primary care medical services to patients.
+ Actively participate in the functioning of the medical staff organization.
+ Interact with and support Primary Care APRNs.
+ Participate in and assist in development of educational activities for the medical staff.
*This role includes occasional coverage or support at smaller sites near the Twin Cities metro area, as well as the option for travel to rural sites in greater Minnesota.
Patients at AMRTC have longer lengths of stay than most community hospitals, affording the opportunity to delve into complex behavioral and physical health concerns and help set the patients we serve on a trajectory toward wellness. Because AMRTC is a freestanding psychiatric hospital and not a medical hospital, this position focuses on typical primary care needs such as chronic disease management and minor acute medical problems. As such, candidates are not required to have recent hospital-based medicine experience.
**Why Join Our Team?**
+ Our System is devoted to providing high-quality care for those who most need it
+ Our setting allows you to spend more time with your patients
+ Work/Life balance
+ Excellent administrative support
+ No third-party billing issues
AMRTC provides the convenience of working in the Twin Cities metro area (a national leader in outdoor activity, biking, theater, and healthcare), without the hassle of the downtown commute. We provide the opportunity to work with a dedicated and experienced clinical staff as well as the benefits of working for a sophisticated state public healthcare system.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Board certification with the American Board of Family Practice or Internal Medicine, or Board Eligible.
+ An active unrestricted State of Minnesota medical license, or ability to obtain a State of Minnesota medical license.
+ CMS eligible provider.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Three (3) plus years of experience in a primary care specialty.
+ One (1) year of experience working in an environment with adults with severe mental Illnesses.
+ Our employees are dedicated to ensuring cultural responsiveness. Preferred candidates will have a variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
**Additional Requirements**
To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS - The Direct Care & Treatment will conduct reference checks to verify job-related credentials and criminal background check prior to appointment.
EDUCATION VERIFICATION - Applicants will be required to provide a copy of their high school diploma at time of interview OR copies of their college transcript or college degree/diploma at time of interview. Copies of the college degree/diploma are acceptable ONLY if it clearly identifies the field in which it was earned.
