POSITION SUMMARY

Provides Laboratory Services to patients of all ages from newborn to the elderly. Services/care provided will be pertinent to the age and developmental level of the patient. Performs clinical lab oratory procedures utilizing independent judgment and responsibility. Monitors Quality Control and performs, evaluates and trouble shoots QA. Collects and processes specimens, operates complex analytical equipment and hospital computer system. Performs all duties and tasks with the Patient’s First philosophy and attitude of good customer service. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree as Medical Technologist or Associates Degree as Medical Lab Technician. Certified Medical Technologist (MT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent or Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or equivalent . Medical Lab Tech Wage Range: $30.626 - $4.432

Med Tech Wage Range: 37.159 - 57.020

1. Patient tests and Quality Control (QC) material tests are preformed and results reported in accordance with departmental policy.
2. Error rate is consistent with established departmental standards.Critical values are reported and documented per medical laboratory policy.
3. Clinical correlation of results with other known patient parameters is incorporated in result verification per department procedure.
4. Workload is prioritized and managed to meet expected Turn-Around-Time (TAT).
5. Competence is maintained, and new skills are added as technologies change. Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents.

1. Reagents are received, stored and quality is verified properly prior to use following departmental policies.
2. Reagents and supplies are utilized according to manufacturer /or procedural instructions.
3. Disposal of reagents and supplies is in accordance with safety guidelines.
4. Monitors equipment performance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes repairs or initiates service requests.

1. Instrument malfunctions are recognized and trouble-shooting procedures are initiated in a timely manner.
2. Manufacturer's Technical Service is contacted for resolution as needed to maintain workflow and to schedule repairs.
3. Processes required for instrument re-entry into use are performed. Ensures a smooth transition to the next shift.

1. Workstations are restocked with supplies to maintain a consistent workflow.
2. Unresolved problems, including pending log, problems, critical values are communicated to the appropriate person(s).
3. Demonstrates knowledge of quality, safety and compliance programs.

• Bachelor's Degree - from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science or equivalent. Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science program.

• Bachelor's Degree to include 35 semester hours comprised of Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Math AND 1 year fulltime experience in Blood Bank, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology.

• Bachelor's Degree to include 30 semester hours in Biology and Chemistry AND 1 year fulltime experience in categorical exam area

• 1 year of experience preferred not requiredTechnologist/Scientist Cert from ASCP or AMT-MT Required

The role you'll contribute:

Responsible for performing all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. This position provides technical knowledge and applies it to department testing and clinical relevance. In addition, this position exhibits complex problem-solving skills. Additionally, this role ensures accurate and timely test results.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Required qualifications:

• Associate in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution OR Successful completion of at least a 50-week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); or qualified and served as high complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995 in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have done so continuously since December 28, 2024.

• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLSASCP) Required or

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLTASCP) Required or

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLTAMT) Required
