**Job Summary:**
Primary responsibility is coordination and supervision of pharmacy operational areas and patient care programs, including adherence of medication-use processes to defined regulatory and quality standards of practice. Collaboratively oversees and coordinates process improvement initiatives for the central operations of the main hospital pharmacy, the sterile operations of the cleanroom pharmacy, and the satellite operations throughout the institution. Assists with oversight of day-to-day operations including personnel assignments and activities, medication dispensing programs, pharmacy automation, and medication inventory to ensure effective and timely provision of pharmacy services and medication therapy. Supports medication procurement and utilization and facilitates evidence-based medication use and purchasing of pharmaceuticals across all pharmacy areas. Supervises staff and actively participates in operations to ensure accurate evidence-based medication services are provided to patients and pharmacy support services are available to medical and nursing staff to improve medication utilization and enhance treatment outcomes. Provides education to staff, enforces departmental and institutional policies, and initiate development plans as needed to assure regulatory compliance and optimal service standards. Actively manages human, capital, and operational resources to collaboratively support patient care services, medication safety systems, regulatory compliance initiatives, and quality assurance programs throughout the Department of Pharmacy. + **Pharmacy Practice and Operations Management**
1. Supervises operational, clinical, and regulatory compliance programs in assigned pharmacy areas to ensure accurate and timely medication distribution, optimizes medication utilization, minimize product waste, maximize inventory turns, optimize pharmacy supply use, and maximize staff productivity.
2. Establishes standards of practice and environmental standards consistent with contemporary hospital practices, patient-centered clinical services, traditional therapeutics, professional principles, and innovations in pharmacy.
3. Leads initiatives to organize space, equipment, and services to meet the needs of patients and other customers.
4. Leads initiatives and programs to ensure medication preparation and distribution systems are aligned with evidence-based best practices, are suitable to meet the patient care needs of assigned services and areas and are in compliance with all healthcare regulatory requirements and applicable state and federal laws.
5. Leads initiatives and programs to maintain pharmacy operational areas and medication management programs in constant state of survey readiness for all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
**What You Will Need:**
**Required:**
+ Doctor of Pharmacy degree
+ Three or more years of contemporary hospital pharmacy practice experience
+ Current, active State of Florida Pharmacist license
+ Leadership qualities essential to operate effectively within the institution and advance the practice of pharmacy
+ Proficiency in general hospital pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance
+ Proficiency with hospital computer systems, pharmacy technology, and pharmacy automation

+ Develops educational materials and provides educational programs for the pharmacy staff and other hospital personnel. Serves as a preceptor for students from the affiliated colleges of pharmacy and/or pharmacy residents.
+ Communicates regularly with the pharmacy management team regarding personnel issues, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance matters. Effectively implements protocols and objectives with team members to result in optimization of staff performance, teamwork, patient safety, and customer service.
**SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

The role you'll contribute:
The clinical pharmacist plays a vital role in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients throughout the hospital. They collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy, ensure patient safety, and improve clinical outcomes. The clinical pharmacist actively participates in patient care rounds, medication management, and provides drug information to healthcare professionals.

Perform all pharmacist functions, actively participate in established standard work procedures and parameters.
Maintain functional proficiency in and actively provide coverage of central pharmacy as needed.
Oversee and ensure appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems.
Accurately oversee the management of medication inventories and the preparation and dispensing of patient-specific medication doses.
Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, including compounding, repackaging, and preparing intravenous medications.
Supervise and manage the activities of pharmacy technicians, residents, and interns, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Prioritize workload, organize workflow, and verify accuracy of pharmacy technician, resident, and intern activities.
Assure continuity of care between shifts, among pharmacy staff assignments, and across pharmacy practice areas.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
· Bachelor's degree of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or equivalent
· 3 years of experience as a pharmacist in the hospital setting or completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency
· PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Georgia
