We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic MEP Engineering Manager to join our construction team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to work with professionals in the design, coordination, and project management of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in overseeing all aspects of MEP design and construction, including the development of innovative and cost-effective designs, project management, and team leadership. Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory in the state of Florida. PE licensure in GA & TX preferred. Must have experience working on multi-family projects!

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of MEP system designs in-house, ensuring all designs are up to code and meet project specifications.
• Oversee the coordination and integration of MEP systems into overall project design and construction.
• Manage a team of MEP engineers and designers, providing guidance, feedback, and training to ensure the team is performing at its best.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure the seamless integration of MEP systems.
• Develop and implement project schedules and budgets, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Review and approve MEP design drawings and specifications, ensuring they meet quality standards and project requirements.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems, ensuring they are functioning correctly and safely.
• Manage relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration at all stages of a project.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in MEP design and construction, implementing new technologies and practices as appropriate.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures, as well as health and safety regulations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in MEP design and project management in the construction industry, specifically for multi-family projects.
• Proven experience leading the development of MEP system designs in-house.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, and industry best practices.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Proficiency in relevant software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Project.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to help build and manage an MEP Engineering Division serving the Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia region.

Responsibilities

• Manage a staff of MEP professionals, including annual performance reviews
• Perform engineering designs for one or more discipline
• Perform engineering evaluations and studies
• Perform quality control review of designs prepared by others
• Provide mentoring and training to junior engineering staff
• Prepare qualifications for engineering services
• Prepare proposals for engineering services, including fee proposals
• Participate in membership with trade organizations; attend marketing and business development meetings and events, etc.
• Prepare project invoicing with assistance from accounting department
• Assist accounting department with managing client accounts receivable
• Responsible for the profitability of the division
• Develop strategic plans consistent with the firm goals
• Report regularly to a Principal of the firm

Requirements

• Accredited mechanical, electrical or architectural engineering degree
• Professional Engineering license preferred but not required
• Minimum 10 years experience in an MEP design environment
• Proficiency in mechanical or electrical design; preferably both
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection disciplines
• Knowledge of architecture and structural engineering disciplines
• AutoCAD required; BIM preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills

**About the role**
As an MEP Project & Engineering Design Manager at CBRE Group, you will have the unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the flawless execution of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical designs throughout the entire construction process. From lease negotiations to handover, you will lead the engineering process, providing strategic and tactical design management support to the Design Management Team. Provide strategic and tactical design management support to the Design Management Team, for the engineering process of a project from conception to completion.
This role will be embedded as an integral member of the Client's team, undertaking Project Briefing and Compliance roles as requested on all projects across AMER. Although based in NYC, there may be a requirement to travel to specific project locations throughout AMER for key project milestones during the design, construction, testing/commissioning, and handover stages. This role will require the selected candidate to be onsite in New York City at the client's office a minimum of three days per week.
**What you'll do**
+ Serve as the client's representative for MEP in construction projects, ensuring the client's MEP brief is met by coordinating with consultants, contractors, and architects.
+ Guide the correct execution of the client's design process across all project phases, including feasibility, scheme design, detailed design, construction, and project handover.
+ Collaborate with the Operations teams to address operational failures, offering expert advice and reporting recommendations for effective resolution.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and provide early support to project managers, architects, and space planners, contributing to the successful implementation of projects.
+ Collaborate with cost estimators to formulate MEP budgets and with Project Managers to develop construction programs, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
+ Create high-level MEP Scope of Work for internal moves, changes (IMAC), and small projects, ensuring the flawless execution of design plans.
+ Create and consistently update a suite of standard documentation to assist the design management team in effectively delivering designated client projects.
+ Travel to project locations, primarily in the US and potentially Canada, to provide on-site support and ensure successful completion of project goals.
+ Advise on project briefs, setting clear goals and objectives related to building services installations, contributing to the overall success of projects.
+ Monitor project designs and reviews to ensure adherence to Client standards, maintaining the highest level of quality throughout the design process.
+ Communicate design management processes and supporting procedures to Project Managers and other team members, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
+ Review works on-site to ensure standard compliance and quality delivery, offering valuable guidance to the Client during the construction phase.
+ Carry out project completion reviews, sign-off, and acceptance on behalf of the Client, ensuring the successful completion of projects.
+ Compile information for monthly management reports for senior management's review, providing valuable insights into project progress and performance.
+ Deliver comprehensive auditing across the design management process, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
+ Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for specific plant or system installations when required, ensuring the equipment meets design parameters and quality standards.
+ Review commissioning data against design parameters and arrange for corrective action when necessary, ensuring the successful commissioning of MEP systems.
+ Strong electrical or mechanical / electrical commissioning knowledge base and focus strongly desired, allowing you to bring exceptional expertise to the team.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**What you'll need**
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
+ BS Degree and 7-10 years of experience in MEP, FPS-focused field, including at least 5 years in design consultancy and/or design management with commercial buildings.
+ The preferred candidate will be either a strong electrical or mechanical/electrical commissioning bias Engineering Designer/manager with good all-around experience with commercial design experience that includes trading floors, high-end client dining and meeting room facilities, communications rooms, kitchens and restaurants, auditoriums, multi-media, and other spaces.
+ Proficiency in IoT (Smart) technologies.
+ Proficient in effectively engaging with clients and other individuals involved in the project, communicating challenging and intricate concepts.
+ Innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
+ In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
