First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Merchant Sales Officer to join our team! This position will effectively sell merchant card processing services to new clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Revenue through the promotion and selling of merchant solutions. Using a blended approach of both personal prospecting and partnering to develop internal and external referrals.
  • Lead training and education for the Merchant team through mentorship and job shadowing.
  • Independently manage their own individual pricing strategies and deliverables. Serve as a back-up for pricing reviews and client structuring.
  • Manage the sales process including the creation of sales materials and proposals for clients and prospects.
  • Provide updates related to the Merchant industry, product set changes, vendor enhancements, technical issues, and outages, as necessary.
  • Remain current on product, industry, and technical merchant processing knowledge and up to date with regulatory changes.
  • Actively partner with, train, and educate partner lines of business on merchant products and solutions offered.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly sales and activity reports for leadership, utilizing established tracking solutions.
  • Review and manage merchant client account activity, to ensure profitability and manage the overall health of the client relationship.
  • Conduct annual review of merchant client files. When appropriate, partner with Consumer, Treasury Management and Commercial Bankers; and other lines of business to identify cross sell opportunities.
  • Utilize prospecting tools to self-source sales opportunities within the existing banks book of business (i.e. ACH incoming report).

In order to be successful in this position, we require the following:

  • Associate’s degree in business, marketing or a related field of study.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related merchant sales, banking, business to business sales and/or business development experience.

The following would be a plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field of study.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $60,435.00 - $71,100.00
