POSITION SUMMARY:
Under minimal guidance, assign job tasks to Sheetmetal Technicians in their charge in accordance with approved or accepted data and with serviceable materials and assist with same, assuring that all work is documented on the forms set forth in the repair station manual. Assuring all assigned work tasks are completed relative to the completion schedule and department budget. Plans, lays' out, fabricates, installs, assembles, and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces on VIP aircraft in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist and instruct work crew with fabrication or installation of Sheetmetal parts and assemblies per engineering drawings or maintenance manuals on VIP aircraft ensuring all FAA and Company requirements are met.
2. Communicate schedule attainment, conformance and "hot" jobs on a daily basis at shift start-up meetings and attend assigned project meetings.
3. Meet 100% shop completion for assigned work center.
4. Lead and coach employees in the improvement of productivity and the reduction of costs.
5. Assign work for optimal utilization of resources and ensure back up plans for under-utilized resources as applies.
6. Request and redeploy resources according to inter-departmental needs as applies.
7. Responsible for quality of work completed as well as budgeted labor hours.
8. Process daily paperwork such as task cards, time cards, and turnover report.
9. Ensure employees are coached and trained in the quality system and quality improvements including the documentation of variances as applies.
10. Enforce compliance to the quality and certification systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:
1. High school diploma or GED, plus a technical training/diploma/certificate in aircraft mechanics, or aeronautics from at least a 2 year technology institution plus 3 years of applicable experience in the same or similar job in the military or within the aviation industry; or 6 years of applicable experience in same or similar job within the aviation industry.
2. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
3. Thorough knowledge of high end VIP aircraft Systems and Interior Install to include fabrication, installation, removal and repair.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Proficient knowledge and expertise with VIP completion production skill sets and aircraft operation and maintenance.
2. Strong knowledge of FAA requirements for VIP and maintenance aircraft.

Sheet metal mechanics at this level plan, lay out and develop templates to construct, assemble and install irregular items and systems. The sheet metal items and systems used by sheet metal mechanics at this level have various combinations of features including: cornices, canopies, transition elbows and oblique, truncated or frustum cones. Objects and systems with these features are more difficult to make and join than those at grade 10, because they are usually unconventional, one-of-a-kind items, systems or apparatuses used for a one-time project. In addition to the parallel line and radial line development typical at the grade 10 level, the grade 11 mechanic more frequently uses triangulation principles.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Evaluates damage and/or wear to sheet metal components and systems. Disassembles, repairs, fabricates, assembles and installs sheet metal components. Uses various measuring tools to measure size, angles and patterns for repair, replacement and/or modification.
- Plans and lays out templates for construction and repair of components for heating, ventilation and air conditioning duct work, kitchen equipment and exhaust hoods and copper roof components.
- Checks system to determine component faults and to identify sheet metal pattern requirements. Lays out, cuts out and forms sheet metal material according to patterns. Uses welding, riveting, soldering, mechanical fasteners, forming machines and other tools of the trade to join and assemble components to prevent system leaks.
- Repairs copper roofs as required. Measures and fits new sections. Caulks around joints and flashing. Solders joints. Repairs and installs metal roofing accessories such as chimneys, guards, gutters, pipes, valleys and vents.
- Fabricates, installs, removes, repairs and adjusts duct work.
- Works with stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium alloys and honeycomb materials. Uses hand and power tools and machines such as slip-roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, crimpers, rotary machines with extra forming rolls and beading machines.
- The incumbent must follow all relevant safety rules, regulations and standard operating procedures. Must utilize knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all safety practices and equipment are fully utilized. Must ensure the use of any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Southern Pride Service of White Plains, MD is looking for Sheet Metal Mechanics to join our growing operation and serve our customers. Our ideal candidate will install AHUs, RTUs, exhaust fans/systems, VAVs, louvers/dampers and associated duct work under the direction of a job-site Foreman.
Essential Functions:
- Install miscellaneous duct work.
- Install equipment roof curbs and exterior duct work.
- Install exterior wall louvers, dampers including control/fire/ balancing etc.
- Install registers and grilles with associated flex duct.
- Install ceiling unit heaters and wall heaters.
- Must be available to work various shifts as scheduled, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours each week. Weekend and overtime work may be required, as needed.
- High School Diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 2 years of experience
